Zero

Zero, just like Soul was also born into The Sarrowing Echos guild. His parents were members of the guild but soon died during a campaign. Rumor says they got into a fight with another guild. The Lord didn't seem too interested in Zero at first, he only saw him as a chore he didn't ask for. Once Zero became a Yearling, he started to be more involved with the higher-ranked members and got to see the rumored spawn of the Lord, Soul. Soul was a fascinating yearling, he was free to do as he pleased and it left an impression on the more timid Zero. He would often watch Soul from a distance as he didn't have the right to approach the puck just yet. You could argue that Zero did really want to be his friend.

Once Zero became a colt, things changed for him. He started to do campaign parties with some members of the guild. He grew more into himself and his abilities, Zero was pretty strong as he trained every day with the other members. One of his campaigns brought home huge riches for their guild, the Lord was very pleased with Zero and started taking him to formal gatherings with allied Guilds alongside Soul, who at the time was rumored to be the next guild master. Zero was pretty excited that the Lord was taking more interest in him and seemed to praise him for his efforts. These gatherings were rather intense to actually be a part of, so many scary-looking coursers all in one location were truly a sight to see. Zero was introduced to several different individuals who were around his age and some rather older. He held his head high as to show he was worthy of being here. But when Zero noticed Soul was nowhere in sight he grew confused and rather bothered by his absence. Zero left the conversation with the other colts and went searching for the newly deemed 'Prince'. Zero spent an hour wandering around the castle before stopping in his tracks when he noticed moonlight coming from a cracked open door. Zero slowly approached the door and peeked inside, his eyes scanned the dark moonlit room landing on a blueish-white bed with satin curtains that blew in the breeze. His eyes then locked on Soul, who was lying in the bed, seeming to be sleeping. Zero slowly opened the door and walked in, he walked past the open full-body window and up towards the sleeping puck. "Why are you up here?" he spoke softly. Zero examined Soul, it wasn't often he actually got to see him in person. The pale courser's gaze met with Soul's adolescent face, his forelock was long and messy and his mane matched it. Zero chuckled to himself as he watched Soul sleep so peacefully. After a moment passed, Zero's face went completely red when Soul's eyes were now open and staring daggers at Zero "Uh I! I..." Zero stumbled backwards away from Soul who was now sitting up. "Uh... Why are you up here?" Zero asked, avoiding eye contact. "Sleeping duh." Soul responded to Zero as he got off the bed and walked past him "Do you always watch people sleep? Kinda creepy." Soul spoke as he exited the room. That was the first time Zero had a conversation with Soul and it was clear from then on that Zero was beneath Soul.

Weeks after their return back to the guild, Soul's behavior was getting more out of control and Zero started to develop complex feelings towards him. He wanted to be friendly with Soul but at the same time, his pride was constantly being bruised by the selfish colt. Zero was struggling with his new missions and was coming back empty-handed at some points. The Lord grew more angry and annoyed by this. Zero would often suffer harsh discipline from the Lord and other high-ranked members, one incident left him with bruised ribs. Each failure was met with more harsh punishments. Zero's feelings toward Soul would change drastically when Soul caused Zero to mess up his Dive and lose the Lord's special potions. Not even sorry came from Soul, instead Soul laughed at Zero and continued his shinanigans as if it was no big deal. Zero suffered again but much more cruelly, this time he was left out in the rain for days without any food or water, tied to a fence. It was then Zero grew to despise Soul. When Soul's activity was finally on the Lord's radar, Zero was smuggled, he waited for the day the rumored prince would finally get his ass chewed, but he was met with pure shock and disbelief. Not only was Soul not punished but Zero was made to be his babysitter. How could this have possibly happened? Zero desperately wanted to refuse this ridiculous command but he knew better. Zero let out a sigh and straightened his posture as if to look bigger than Soul, which he already was.

This was the normal for many years and when the two became fresh stallions, their relationship was still a rocky one. Zero grew more in ranks with his reputation in bounty hunting rising, he was rather good at tracking people and bringing them alive to the Lord. He grew more secure in himself and his skills. His strength was becoming more intense and soon he became the strongest courser minus the Lord, in the guild. His job as Soul's shadow didn't change, it grew more tedious as Soul tried numerous times to sneak out with some girls from the guild but was immediately caught by Zero "Do you think I'm stupid?" Zero would mock Soul. Soul eventually gave up trying to trip up Zero's intuition, he almost believed Zero was some kind of psychic. The two of them ended up doing a lot of campaigns, Zero was often insulting Soul the whole time but there were some light moments when they had a bonding moment, even if it was short-lived. There was a time when Soul got injured during a campaign and Zero carried him back to the guild while fending off the monsters that came. Soul was no weakling and Zero knew this, however, Zero was still the stronger one amongst them. After Zero had put Soul to bed and the medics came to his aid, Zero left his chambers and was met by the Lord himself. "Come" he spoke with his red eyes staring down at the Zero. Zero nodded, waiting for the guild master to punish him for Soul being hurt. "What happened." The Lord asked as they walked into the guild master's room. "We were ambushed by an enemy guild while fighting a boss. Soul fought well but he took on too many and ended up getting swarmed by them. Luckily I got rid of them." Zero replied holding his posture high "Is that right? And you carried him all the way here?" The Lord's eyes never left Zero, he stood still watching him closely. "Uh...Yes Sir... He fell unconscious and I ..." Zero stopped speaking when the Lord walked up to him and was now a foot away. "Zero... Did you know, you always have a tense look on your face when you speak about Soul? Do you hate him?" His gaze was icy and Zero was caught a bit off guard "Uh...N-No Sir? I don't hate him Sir..." Zero responded hesitantly "No? Is your face tense because you fancy him then? Not that I'll care if you do." He narrowed his red eyes, watching Zero's face flush at his comment. "What!? Hell no!" Zero almost yelled back at his guild master, who seemed to almost grin now. That grin sent chills down Zero's spine "You're not very convincing." he whispered toward Zero before backing away and heading towards another door within the room. "You may go." The Lord gestured towards to exit. Zero stood there confused for a moment before leaving the room. 'Why the hell would he even think for a moment I had any romantic feelings for that sack of shit?' Zero huffed and glanced down the hallway where Soul was resting, walked down to his room, and opened the door. Zero glared at Soul who was sleeping in his bed. "tch" Zero gritted his teeth, he was annoyed at the sight of Soul. Soul was irresponsible, arrogant, selfish, and egotistical. Zero was at the foot of the bed before he made his way around to the side. "Why..." he spoke in an almost painful tone. His eyes once again examining Soul, he noticed Soul's face was still soft and rather young, unlike his own, scarred rough face. Soul's forlock was now more styled and his mane shaved with a bit of it in a messy ponytail. Zero caught himself looking too long and shook it off. "Do you make it a habit of watching me sleep?" Soul spoke a little playfully before coughing. Zero glared at the puck "Keep dreaming idiot. You must be fine seeing that you can make tasteless jokes." Zero huffed before turning to leave the room now that Soul was awake. "Sheesh, We're never gunna be friends huh?" Soul sighed into a laugh as he watched Zero leave. "Not in this life time" Zero responded before leaving.

Their relationship went like this for a while up until the night of Soul's disappearance. Zero suffered an even greater punishment this time. The Lord was furious, blaming Zero for letting Soul leave as it was his job to prevent him from walking off. Zero was left for dead in the cellar of the guild. Hours had passed and a hand to the Lord came to check on Zero, seeing he was still alive he sent for the medics to come and aid Zero's wounds. Once Zero regained consciousness, the Lord was hovering over him, his back fur was lit blue from the night sky. "Get up. You're going to go bring Soul back! And don't even think about returning without him!" his words cut deep into Zero and sent pure fear into him. Once Zero was up and walking he left the guild and headed out to the dungeons to find Soul.

Months had passed when Zero ran into Danga, a foal that spawned in the dungeon. Coming back to the guild without Soul was going to be problematic, but Zero hoped this foal would make a nice gift for the Lord while he waited for his beloved heir to return. Zero felt guilty bringing this kid to this place, but he so badly didn't want to be hurt anymore.

years had passed and Danga was now a fresh stallion. During his adolescence, Danga was glued to Zero, and Zero didn't seem to mind it. Danga was obedient and learned fast. Zero spent his free time teaching Danga all he knew about combat and he also started teaching Danga how to hunt someone. They had a pretty good relationship until Danga grew up. Zero was pulled into the Lord's chambers where he had fallen ill. It should be said that the guild master stopped his hunt for Soul soon after Danga arrived as rumors were going around about a raid that was set to happen on the guild. Zero entered the guild master's room and walked up to the bed where he lay. "Sir" Zero spoke softly. "Zero... I don't seem to have much time." he laughed while coughing blood. "As you know, Soul was supposed to have taken over... However that cocky little shit is no longer here." he coughed, now looking at Zero directly. "Look at you... When did you-" he coughed more "Look... I thought it over and I think you should be the new guild master." Zero stared coldly at the man who handed him suffering on a silver platter, he had ice in his eye. "No." he replied sharply. "haha... I thought you'd say that.." he coughed more before pointing a hoof toward the table behind them. Zero glanced over toward the table to see a letter "This... What does this mean?" Zero turned his attention to the Lord. "It means exactly what-" he started to cough "Now I ask, Do you accept the position of guild master?" he had a devilish grin on his face. Zero scowled coldly and hatefully "Do I even have a choice!?" The Lord laughed as much as he could, he was amused by Zero's reaction "I asked you once... Do you hate Soul? Do you remember this?" Zero was now standing at the bedside of the guild master. "Of course you bastard." Zero grit his teeth. "I also asked you if you fancy Soul" He spoke while watching Zero's face get filled with rage. "Fuck you." Zero was fuming and this amused the Lord immensely. "Haha... You already know you can't refuse this... So I suggest you start getting used to the idea of it." Zero kicked the side of the bed hard enough that the wood splintered "Choke on your own blood old man." Zero turned and stormed out of the room, breaking things along the way.

Weeks later, the Lord passed away, leaving Zero as the new guild master. There was a lot of chatter about this choice but the members did accept the decision. Zero from this point on grew more and more vicious, adopting packs of black dogs that would wander around the guild, guarding and watching. Rumors started to spread that Zero would send his hounds after his enemy and have them maul them to death. Zero was the untouchable. He began dominating other guilds and wiping them off the map. He would send raids out to nearby camps taking all their belongings and sometimes killing them. Word spread that the dark guild The Sarrowing Echos was now a death guild and should be feared. Zero's charge was fierce and deadly. No one knows what happened that made Zero flip the guild into such a ruthless predator. What was that letter about? Leaving the guild meant death. Zero did not tolerate traitors, you will be hunted for the rest of your life.

During all of this destruction, Zero never forgot about Soul, he intends to bring him back to the guild alive and a permanent member.
