After exploring and looting for hours, and sometimes days, Shepherd returns to the comfort of the make-shift camp that he and Haren had made their own. Rest was something that was important for Shepherd, since your thoughts can become impaired without proper sleep, so having somewhere to rest his bones without any worries meant that the surface was the perfect place for him.
