[EASY] Ah...shit.
As Arthur pushed his hoof down onto the last plate, the party froze, hearing the mechanism within the room rumble and shake. There was undoubtedly a chance this could be a trap, and they all knew it. However, when they saw the wall in front of them rumble and move, they all sighed in relief.
Chant smiled slightly and glanced back at Rev, "Saint would have gone to run off behind you by now I bet."
Reverend's brows furrowed at the comment, though he didn't seem offended by it for now. Instead, he looked ahead, watching the entrance only go downward deeper. The scent rolling put from the entrance was musky, thick, much like old sewer water.
Arthur's face wrinkled at the smell and he turned his head away, ears laid back. "Disgusting...this doesn't feel like a reward..." He grumbles through his teeth. Maybe it was a little greedy or selfish of him, but after all that of work…this was not feeling worth it.
Hellish huffed and pushed past the heraldic, looking down at Arthur as he passed. “For all you know the reward could be deeper in. You’ve barely stuck your snout in.” He walked ahead, moving to enter the dark doorway.
Chant and Reverend were quick to follow, not even looking back to check if the younger stallion followed. Arthur’s ears went rigid, and his posture slouched as he watched them walk ahead. Either this group didn’t like him, or they were just much different than what Arthur expected from an adventuring party. Eventually he mustered up the strength to catch up with the rest of the group, but it wasn’t pleasurable.
Not only did the crypt they entered grow darker the deeper they went, but the air was extremely thick, hardly breathable. Their torch remained dim as their hooves pushed through the murky water, sloshing loudly with an echo. It felt gross. Every breath tasted foul, as if a thousand corpses had decayed down here and crawled down the party’s throats.
As Chant and the two pucks kept ahead, Arthur continued to trail behind by a bit. Whether it was good or bad was about to be determined though, a much louder splash coming from in front of the group. Chant’s eyes widened as he saw the large, bulky black emerge from the water’s surface.
The entire party froze, and to no surprise it was Chant who turned around first with a stuttering yell. “G-go!! Turn around!”
Reverend’s body tensed and his ears laid back as he saw the bulge dart straight towards them with little issue from the water. It rumbled and roared through the crypt, catching up dangerously fast. Once Chant got to turn around, he quickly turned heel and bucked his back legs just in case the monster got too close. “To the door, quickly!” He yelped.
Arthur’s body froze, raising his chin to try and see what it was before nearly getting pushed over by Chant as the other blazed past him. Quickly, move!
