Lucky

I was still standing over his body, sobbing. In a matter of minutes, my whole world turned upside down. “Victor. Come back.” I sobbed, tears dropping from my eyes to his face. My entire body was shaking over his body. “Victor.” I whispered. “Please, please Victor, you can’t be gone.” I cried. I felt someone flick their tail and hit me. I spun around. It was Slate. “This is all your fault. You should have been the one to die!” I screamed. Slate seemed pretty shocked, and maybe I felt a little bit bad but I wouldn’t be the one to tell him. “Get the hell out of here, before I kill you.” I screamed. Slate lowered his head and began walking.

“No one is bloody leaving. Slate.” A voice spoke sternly. I turned my attention to them. “Auryn?” I asked. She didn’t look like she did when she left. She had colors swirling around her, and she was floating now. I have to admit, she was beautiful but Victor just broke my heart. “Yes, Lucky. It is me, Auryn. Where is Victor?” Auryn asked. I bowed my head. “Here.” I whispered. Somehow she heard me, and came closer. “How long has he been out for?” Auryn asked, and seemed to somehow notice the tear stains on my face, and the water on Victor’s face. Nothing was making any sense anymore. “Lucky. How long has he been out for?” Auryn repeated. “He hasn’t been ‘out’ for anything. He’s dead.” I tried to keep it together, but my voice wavered as I spoke that last sentence. Auryn sighed. “Lucky. How long?” Auryn repeated again, clearly getting frustrated. “I don’t know. Could have been a few minutes, or it could have been an hour.” I said, looking back at Victor’s body. “How long before the books stopped, did he go down?” Auryn asked. “I think right before. Then, then.” My voice wavered and another tear dropped from my eye. “Lucky. Relax. Breathe.” Auryn said flatly. “Do you not care that Victor is dead?” I screamed, tears falling from my cheeks.

Auryn

Lucky is a bit dumb. “Do you not care that Victor is dead?” He screamed at me, the flow of tears picking up. I sighed. “Lucky-” I started. “No, don’t ‘Lucky’ me!” Lucky screamed at me, baring his teeth. “Contain him.” I commanded, and a few of the colors swirling around me wisped over to Lucky and bound him. “I’m sorry Lucky.” I said with remorse. “You aren’t sorry, you are a jackass who doesn’t give a shit about anyone but you!” Lucky screamed. He’s mourning, I told myself. It’s not me, it's him, I told myself.

I padded over to Victor. I lowered my head into the crevice of his neck. “What the fuck are you doing?!” Lucky screamed. I have no doubts that if he wasn’t bound, he’d come over here and try to kill me. I sighed. This wasn’t good, but was it half bad?
