Kind | Determined | Melancholy

In his youth, Leofric had explored the caverns eagerly, always at his best friend Markus' side. As the pair grew older, they grew closer, and before long they found themselves fully in love. Determined to make a worthy life for his lover, Leofric turned to homemaking rather than spelunking. His husband, however, was not quite ready to slow down yet; a thrillseeker at heart, Markus insisted on going further, deeper, with each outing. Though Leofric protested these habits at first, he slowly grew to accept his husband's impulses, always hoping that Markus' insistence on just a couple more missions would finally come true. But when his party returned without him after weeks beneath the earth, Leofric's entire world fell apart. He spiraled into depression and anger, blaming the rest of the party for losing him in a fight they should have known they couldn't win. They had fled blindly in the heat of battle, leaving Markus to the necrotic, tentacled nightmare that lurks in the fog of the moor.

With the party refusing to return to the place they'd left him, Leofric's devastation twisted into obsession. If they would not return to him, he supposed he would need to do it himself. Refusing to believe Markus had been felled by the beast, he began training, returning to the dungeons with renewed vigor. At first, this seemed like mere desperation, the desire to feel like he was doing something despite the finality of the situation. But as time passed, it became clear that he had come to fully believe in the idea that Markus was still out there, lost in some faraway corner of the caves, if Leofric could only manage to find him.

Though months have passed since Markus' disappearance, Leofric continues to comb every inch of the dungeons for his husband. He is kind and friendly toward those he meets, and though he's content to adventure on his own, he will not turn down temporary company. He believes strongly that nobody should enter the dungeons ill-equipped, and the resentment he still harbors toward his husband's adventuring party drives him to do anything he can to help other adventurers along his path, determined not to allow anyone to be abandoned in such a way again. He is generous and helpful, though a bit melancholy at times. He is quick to act as a father figure to younger adventurers, having always wanted children with Markus in their time together.

Though his ultimate destination is the moor where Markus was abandoned, he is not quite sure how to find it, and so has convinced himself that it is wiser to check every nook and cranny along the way. He will not admit that he's lost, though this may very well be true. He's not even quite sure where the surface is anymore. He only knows that someday he will find his husband again.

Physical Description: Notably baroque in build, with a thick, crested neck and sturdy legs. His mane and tail are very wavy and kept at short to medium length.
