[HARD] Campaign 003: A Strange Prison
After they successfully cut back the vines and killed off the root, they were able to do a thorough sweep of the room and collect all of the treasures. Flynn was humming a very happy tune as he organized their loot into his bag,
Alec was shimmying from side to side, which had Diego and Isiah starting at it like they thought the ghost had gone crazy.
Ruin was watching Flynn, chirping happily at the sight of each successive coin. Flynn say his avid gaze and gave him one which he tucked into Ravin's pack. That action made them all chuckle.
"Good job everyone," Edos said when Flynn was finally finished, "We can move on from here. No one is gravely injured, all in all that was an easy fight."
"You're very strong, it is very strange for us to come across something that you can't handle," Samantha said to Edos.
"The dungeon is a dangerous place. No matter how strong you are, it doesn't do to be complacent," Edos admonished, "My strength is a benefit for us but don't let that stop you from gathering your own strength."
Samantha who had triggered Edos' lecture looked a bit pained but Ravin and Flynn wisely stayed out of the line of fire.
"I understand brother," Samantha said finally when it seemed that Edos was going to continue on, "You need to learn to take a compliment at face value."
Edos blinked slowly and looked a bit off put but that didn't last long. He quickly regained his composure and then took out his map to make notes.
There one only one path ahead of them and it was long and winding one from what Ravin could see. It was also quite dark, which meant that they couldn't easily scout ahead.
"Let's cotinue, usual formation. Keep your wits about you, Anywhere with such a plant as a gaurd system can't be a normal area," Edos cautioned.
"YEs General!" they responded.
They set off at a steady pace, with Diego and Isiah a few feet ahead of them. They travelled for fifteen minutes before they came upon a weird structure. It was made of metal and wood. Though it had some age to it, the wood was still quite secure. There was a heavy wooden door with a metal bar over it which was padlocked.
"What on earth is this place?" Samantha cried out.
"I feel the stench of death," Edos murmured, "But not recent."
Ravin shivered.
"Creepy, so creepy," Alec murmured, as if he himself was no undead.
They left Flynn to pick the lock and it took him just about give minutes. Then Edos and Ravin worked together to lift up the iron bar.
Once the got the door open, they were greeted with a stale and musty scent. It did smell similar to a graveyard...
There were stalls to either side of a long hallway. There was dust and decay all over.
Inside of the cubicles were the remains of what seemed to be smaller coursers.
"These are the same size of the ghosts with two-leggeds on them!" Flynn cried out, "Why were they imprisoned here?"
Ravin wondered this himself. There were eight piles of bones here, each in it's own padlocked jailcell. The cells they were in would be absolutely to keep a courser in but had managed to subdue these equines here and this became the place of their death.
It was a very sobering sight.
"I don't know if this is really a jail. Maybe this is where they lived but someone locked them in for revenge?" Samantha considered, "But then why do the stalls have contraptions to lock them if that is the case."
She was answering her own questions so no one said anything.
"I think they used to belong to some one," Edos said suddenly, "Look here there is a very old saddle. I recall seeing it on the ghostly coursers."
"And they just abandoned them here to die? They should have at least set them free if they didn't want them anymore," Ravin complained.
"I agree with you but I don't know what is the full story here," Edos admitted, "The dungeons are a weird place. You can find things that are from another time and maybe even another world sometimes."
"This is very sad," Samanthan murmured, "I am glad that we are born free."
"Freedom is relative," Edos commented and noone had anything to say.
They had their own homes and no owners. Whether or not freedom was relative they much preferred their current state to this...
