pale comfort
Another day, another adventure. This time, it's just Andrej and Khors. The hawk's presence is comforting, though the way his predatory gaze seems to take in things entirely beyond Andrej's notice is still... a bit much. Better safe than sorry, and he manages to add a layer of protection that he can't really argue with. Perhaps the best safety measure he's got, right? Is that a pale comfort? Maybe. Hell, even a pale comfort is better than none, especially down here. The second level of the dungeon was more intense than the first.
Between the oppressive heat and the monsters who seemed largely more intelligent than the ones upstairs, Andrej is doing his best to make adjustments to his approach. Carrying more supplies, but weighing his options when it comes to the physical weight of his pack. Travel light, but not so light that he's left wanting. Extra weight would mean more sweat, and more sweat would mean going through water at an even more rapid pace. Still, an extra bag was packed away in his things, just in case he found anything too good to leave behind. Food that was high in water content was also a staple down here, even if it was a little mushy by the time he got around to eating it.
As for his spirits? They're never high. Not down here. All Andrej can really do is cling to the hope that he'll find signs of Zora down here today. Same as every day. Relying on routine, finding his rhythm, and keeping his head up. Trying to shake the dark cloud that seemed to settle over his shoulders, especially when he's alone. As long as he's got Khors, he should be fine, right? Just a man and his bird, trying to get his sister back from the dungeon's clutches.
