Gerard was a new and so far rather inexperienced adventurer who hadn’t had many opportunities venturing out with others yet, but he was determined, regardless, to find his place in a party. He had always envisioned himself as a protector, someone to rely on in a time of need. Perhaps he could be the one to jump between his allies and danger to protect them from harm? Or maybe he could cause distraction to help them get an advantage or get away safely?
Perhaps it was overcompensation for his short stature that caused him to want to be strong and protective, which he would of course never admit. He’d of course say that he was a born protector, that he’d sacrifice himself for his allies in a heartbeat if it came to such drastic measures.
Gerard couldn’t help but smile and feel accomplished by the mere thought of doing such brave and heroic deeds. Surely that would be his purpose once he found a more permanent party to travel and adventure with. Surely they would appreciate his braveness and confidence in his protective capabilities. He had no doubt about that at all.
Longfully, he looked out to the mountain filled horizon, wishing for his very first big and life changing adventure, wishing for his future role to be as fulfilling as he’d always dreamt of, wishing for a party to call his family.
