Ravin fears the Harvest Season
Ravin had been training with Edos for the last few years and was considered to be one of his confidants. Ravin was known for spending more time training pets than dungeoneering but this was not noted as a bad thing since many of Edos' soldiers had benefited from this.
In order to prove himself however, Ravin had handed over the task of training to one of his subordinates and headed into the dungeons himself.
Unlike what others thought, he was not at all a stranger to his place. In fact he had been born here out of a pool of water and found by Edos as a helpless foal wandering through the caverns.
When he returned it was often like if he was stepping back in time. Renewing his connection with the place that was like his Father and his Mother.
He had an uncanny sense of direction and never got lost in the tunnels no matter what twists or turns were thrown at him, he always knew what way to go to get where he was going.
He made his way to one of his favorite resting spots in the overgrown cavern. It features a large pool of clear water with colorful invertebrates at the bottom. There was a nice patch of moss to rest in and overall the air here was clean and not damp and muggy like most of the rest of the dungeons.
He was able to fully relax here, knowing that he would be safe and unharmed.
He had brought Ruin, his pet crow along with him today. Ruin was very smart and had a mild personality. Now that he was resting, Ruin was perched on his head, taking a nap and Ravin was doing his best to stay still and not disturb him.
As he sat here quietly, Ravin let his mind wander to the few happenings at the camp recently.
For one thing it was the harvest festival but he was very wary of the entire thing and had been somewhat avoiding getting involved. He was actually quite scared of ghosts and had been staying in at night to hide from the rays of the harvest moon.
He knew that Edos had a close relationship with the Harvester and was devoted but the entire thing left him unsettled.
I hope that if one day I die that I can find my way home without needing help. Why should one have to suffer in life and still not be able to live well in you death?
He thought it was cruel and unfair that spirits could be trapped on this plain to wander in a statement of eternal sorrow.
In general, Ravin was not at all religious though given his origins he knew the occult was real. He had a strong affinity for water magic especially and could tell little mundane things like when it was going to snow or rain.
Ghosts though was were he drew the line.
The arrival of Kamphire to the camp was also something that weighed on his mind. Edos was acting completely out of character with the new courser and he felt like it was clear to everyone but the two coursers involved that they were madly in love.
Kamphire was a mysterious one, he was always hesitant to tell his back story and it was clear that he had been birthed out of the dungeons but as a full grown horse. That was strange in itself. Also occasionally Kamphire would make mention of places that didn't exist in this area or maybe even in this realm.
It led one to coming up with all sorts of stories for yourself, since the truth itself was not forthcoming.
Even though he was curious, Ravin knew that it was difficult to assimilate into a new environment and that gaining trust could not be rushed. Still the Harvest season made him feel like perhaps Kamphire was a ghost of some sort...
With a sigh, Ravin decided to put aside all of his wild thoughts and take a nap instead.
