[HARD] Doors.. Again
Jester was getting damn tired of these faces. The minute the dimly lit split chamber came into sight, she nearly turned right back around and led the entire party in another direction. However, Dorian was quick to jump ahead and enter the room - immediately bantering with the craggy faces in a way that suggested they'd done this old song and dance more than a time or two. He spent roughly fifteen minutes grilling, guessing, and harrassing the faces and.. still seemed to get nowhere. The same phrases began to repeat, the faces growing tired of whatever game he was currently playing with them. Eventually, the sound of stone on rock drowned Dorian out entirely and he was forced out of the room. Agitation seemed to ooze off of him, and Jester couldn't blame him. This was by far her least favorite room, and was unfortunately the one they seemed to end up in the most often.
"Which way did we go last time?" Dorian inquired, tilting his head.
"It's different every time we come through, if only slightly." Jester wasn't wrong: the room did seem to change a bit each time they passed through. A bit smaller this time than the last one, but still decorated with the same Sad and Happy rock faces. "I don't know that it matters much which way we went last time."
"Do you think they remember us?"
"I certainly hope they do," though after a bit of thinking, maybe being recognized wasn't a good thing. "I feel like every part of the dungeon recognizes us.. in some way."
The Slapper, who had been asleep at the junction of her shoulder and back, made a rude gesture towards the faces. Dorian simply laughed, then turned to look at Vice and Tarnished who'd finally caught up. Vice's face wrinkled up in obvious disdain.
"It's the faces again?"
Jester sighed, Dorian chuckled. "When isn't it the faces?"
"Better than another flood," Vice said, and Jester was reminded that they were all still slightly damp. Their quick wit had saved them from being drowned, but it hadn't quite spared them from being thoroughly soaked in freezing waters. "I'm sick of water."
Tarnished frowned at Vice, but said nothing. Silent and steady as ever.
"What do you think, Tarnished?" Jester finally asked, flicking an ear back towards the cavern. "You've not led us astray yet.. I trust your judgement."
There was something strange and ethereal about the heraldic, something she'd never quite been able to name and maybe never would be able to assign a word to. They just.. knew things sometimes, and of course offered no explanation. She wondered how often, but just as often counted her lucky stars that both Vice and Tarnished had simply dropped into her lap. Somehow, she knew between Dorian, Vice, and Tarnished that they could get through just about anything the dungeons could offer.
In response, Tarnished simply flicked their long tail and entered the room. The faces were dead silent, though their expressions appeared to be more than delighted when the silver courser entered the chamber. It didn't take long for Tarnished to secure a route, and with a quick glance over their shoulder - they disappeared down the left tunnel. Dorian and Vice were quick to follow, and Jester was left briefly with her thoughts.
Could be worse.. but damn, it was annoying. As if feeling her very emotions, the Slapper shifted positions and began a gently drumming on her hindquarters. It wasn't long before she was trotting to the beat, following the rest of her friends into the darkness once again.
You encounter a fork in the dungeon marked by two doorways. Above one, a face in the rock smiles. Above the other, a face frowns. Both begin to speak, and in their craggy voices try to convince you to go through the door beneath them.
Your party must make a Wisdom check to make the right choice.
