[DD2] Accidental Identity Crisis | Dungeon Dive
Anastasia walked along the path, Fetch by her side. The two were deep in discussion as they trotted through the crumbling caverns’ corridors.
“Do you think that maybe being down here isn’t the best way to make a living?” Ana questioned, speeding up and having to slow down to match Fetch’s pace frequently.
“...Mmm, maybe? It’s unsafe risking your life every time you come down here… But, at the same time, how else are we expected to make money.. Y’know?” The mare thought aloud after a while, thinking about it deeply.
Ana nodded, humming, “Yeah, I guess so. Why do you come down here?”
Fetch shrugged, nonchalant, “Was born here, why wouldn’t I?”
The yearling thought for a moment before nodding, content with that answer. She thought about why she day in and day out risked her life just to say that she did it. Why did she do that? Was it for the thrill, the money? The adventure? She couldn’t quite tell.
The two coursers walked along the path a bit longer, Anastasia having what she could only categorize as an identity crisis. Natalie skipped ahead of the two and yipped, a sudden burst of energy startling the yearling out of deep thought.
Anastasia picked up the pace to catch up with Natalie, Fetch sighing before picking up the pace as well. Maybe she didn’t need a reason to come down here. Maybe thinking about such deep questions was for an older Anastasia to tackle.
