Shapeshifters – That’s the insulting name that those outside of the Order of Mercurial call its members. 

Nyoka supposes that it is an astute observation – they were able to shift into what other Coursers wanted them to be. It is not her fault that so many are so easily duped and manipulated. The chimera herself is less like a Courser and more like a serpent – disciplined, always ready to strike and dripping with venom. Only those bearing the silk ribbon that connects the Order may avoid the feeling of her fangs. 

So, no, she is not a newbie to the depths of the dungeons. Rather, she is a trained expert. She has walked these ruins many times over and over – all in practiced poise. Every hoofstep is calculated and every move is done with ease. Nyoka uses her knowledge to track down her prey – those of the other kingdoms that practically are begging to be taken out. 

A turn left and then keep to the west wall. A hop over another deadly trap. Soon, the Courser would be closing in on the one she has set her sights on… It is only a matter of time when she chooses to reveal herself to the mare. For now, though, Nyoka will bide her time in the shadows – her pale eyes watching the pale Courser until it is time to insert herself into the other’s life. The serpent cannot help but smile, venom ready to be delivered. 

She wonders, will the stars shine for this one so deep in the dungeons?
