Not only had he heard the stories growing up, but Ans had seen with his own two eyes how coursers could do into the dungeons and come out completely changed. New markings, new eye colors, new forms! It was... incredible. Of course these items had filtered into the markets here on the surface, making their rounds either through the enigmatic Wizard. Though that seemed to take the charm from it all, if Ansgrim had any opinion on the matter. While he knew this was the safest way to explore the properties of basic transfiguration from the safety of the surface that took every bit of fun out of it. Besides, he could only do so much with the little coin he had from the odd job here and there.

The real coin, and the real treasure he looked for, could only be found by signing up as a dungeon diver and going out for himself.

Ansgrim knew he wasn't the strongest, nor the most agile, but he was - in his humble opinion - relatively smart. So he should be fine if he just applied his brain to any obstacle that came before him. At least, that's what he was telling himself. He'd only just made it into the dungeon, the sunlight still filtering upon his sorrel back with a burning intensity in juxtoposition to the cool cave air. He blinked at the various options to proceed forward, scanned other parties chattering in corners of this landing space, and found himself crippled with the inability to make any kind of decision. Should be approach someone more physically capable than himself for aid? Should he pick the left, first-right-to-left, or fourth-left-to-right passage? Oh, it drove his brow up and ears and lips down just considering making the wrong choice.

Eventually, someone barked for him to get out of the way.

"Oh, sorry..." He murmured, forced to take the final steps into the dungeon and into the cramped antechamber. He floated slowly throughout the room, hooves unscertain but stepping out of need regardless. Still, his chestnut eyes scanned and calculated all of his options. They all were obscured by shadow, all smelt of the same oddly fertile sod, and seemed otherwise nondescript from this area. He wandered in front of each open path like a lost colt, peering down but never making a decision until... he realized something. If he just kept stopping, he'd never make progress. He'd never find those treasures that transformed his brethren into new forms and colors.

That was it! Ansgrim drew in a deep breath as he pushed into the nearest passage and his first adventure began.

Is this your first time in the dungeon, or are you a veteran of the Courser’s calling? When and why did you decide to answer the call of the depths?
