"No, no… it's okay, Marmalade, I can fix this!" The voice made Moss's ear twitch, and he felt Rat skitter across his body. He tilted his head, trotting toward the voice while Rat guided him until he felt the heat of lava. Moss flinched at the feeling, while Rat squeaked in alarm, scampering to another side to direct his companion. Moss's hoof hit a large ledge behind him, which he leapt upon while guided.

Then he heard 'Meow, meow!' behind him. A cat, distressed. Moss's expression twisted into horror, assuming a cat must've been stuck in the crevasse! Poor thing! Without a second to lose, Moss reached out with his telekinetic powers for anything to help the poor little kitty, and finding an old rope.

Moss used his powers, making the rope launch and dangle over the edge. As soon as something grabbed hold of it, he made the rope wrap around whatever it was and yank it out. He realized as soon as he had, however, that it wasn't a cat he'd just pulled out of the lava.

Moss squeaked in alarm, then dove away into the darkness, thinking it might've been a monster disguising its voice as a cat's. As Moss raced away, Rat squeaked and skittered up to pull on his ear, directing Moss to a stop. Moss skirted to a halt while Rat squeaked.

"…Hello?" Moss froze, hearing another courser nearby. Rat pulled on Moss's ear again, urging him forward. Moss crept up around the corner, hearing hoof steps. Rat scrambled down Moss's leg, scampering up to the stallion.

Rat squeaked at the stallion, jumping up and down to get his attention. "What…? Um, hello, little guy?" Rat rushed over to the cream stallion's leg, attempting to push him. Confused, the stallion asked. "Do you want me to follow you?" Rat squeaked and nodded, then rushed off again.

Moss stood frozen against a cave wall, Moss's colorations making the stallion not notice him. Moss followed close behind, careful not to make a sound. The direction confused Moss some, but he decided whatever it was, it must not have been a monster if Rat was leading them to it.

"Hey! Slow down!" the stallion yelled as Rat disappeared into a shadow. A gasp came from the ledge nearby.

"Logue?!" a mare's voice called out. Moss decided it was time to back away, but felt Rat return, zipping up Moss's leg and guiding him to hide nearby. Moss did so and listened in on the conversation while he waited.

The mare indeed had a cat, Marmalade - a weird name, but Moss brushed it off - and they were now separated by the lava. Moss felt a wave of relief to know the cat he heard was okay. He heard hooves trotting away, searching for an alternate way to Marmalade.

As soon as Moss couldn't hear them anymore, he smiled and trotted back to the ledge. His ears perked up, catching the sound of the cat jumping a little at the sight of him. Moss reached out with his power, and some rocks hurriedly rolled in, building up a small path for Moss to trot across. However, the rocks couldn't stay up for long, so the moment he walked over them, they fell in behind him.

As Moss came to his side of the lava river, Marmalade felt scared, but his fear calmed as Rat squeaked and skittered about Moss's body, reminding him of his relationship with his momma. Moss gave the kitty a friendly smile, gently reaching out with a hoof to reassure the kitty with a few 'pspsps' and other calming sounds.

Soon, Marmalade rode on Moss's back as they searched the tunnel for the other horses. The prior smell of burning lava disappearing as they trotted further away from it.
