The battle of a thousand warriors - Kai

Once Kai woke up in the morning he was ready to head out and claim more gold for himself. He again put on his holster for seigmyer and the little googley eyed chest jumped in, ready for the work that they had to do today. “Are you ready to get more gold buddy?” the courser asked his companion and the eyes just shook up and down in response as they normally did. “I will go ahead and take that as a yes!” with that he went ahead and ran down the stairs quickly and met up with the waitress as he was running out the door. “I'm off to get more gold today!” he yelled as he ran off through the door of the tavern. “Alright good luck with that!” the waitress was a sweet courser who would even put up with Kai's antics. Once Kai made it outside, he looked around for anyone that may need help for his services so he could get some gold to make before nightfall. He ran around the cobbled roads in his search, but he couldn’t really find anyone that needed anything. As he came to the main market that was in the middle of town however, he started to hear rumors and whispers that some horses were able to spot the harvester, yet no one would believe them even if they were telling the truth so Kai kept to himself about what had happened last night. As the night fell upon the world and the moon started to rise and bathe everything in its light blue light, all the corsers were gone once again from the town as they had done the same in the previous night. The golden courser made his way over to the dungeons entrance in hopes for meeting up with the harvester here. As he waited, off in the distance he could see the figure appearing before him with that giant pumpkin for a body that had armor along its arms and legs, wielding the giant scythe of mass destruction, or so he figured it would be. “Hello young courser, i had come to explain to you what your next task will be for this night” the giant pumpkin spoke with a voice that was like dry leaves and he pointed his weapon off into the distance. “You are going to want to make your way in this direction, and you will find something very special. I want you to head there and help the lost souls to make it to the afterlife. Can you handle that?” kai nodded as the instructions were easy enough to remember as all he had to do was walk until he found something. With that the harvester made his way down into the dungeon and they split up for the time being to do their respective tasks. Kai walked through the town and eventually made it to the other side, and as he left the town he could see the plains stretch out before him. As he wandered the field there was nothing remarkable along its path, as there were only a few spirits that were wandering around. Kai had helped them along the way in hopes of getting extra rewards and he eventually made it to the otherside of the plains where there was a huge ravine with a rickety old bridge to get across. He remembered the bridge that he tried to cross last night, so he was definitely on edge as he slowly and cautiously made it across. “At least there wasn’t a giant bat this time” he turned back to look at his companion, and his googly eyes shook up and down in response. He went ahead to see if he could see the bottom of this one, and luckily he could, so even if he did fall he could have survived it. Now that he had made it across, he continued on his adventure and came up to a hill that had a path going up it, it wasn’t a straight path however, it seemed to go side to side. He started up the path zigzagging away up the hill as he started to get tired from the walk up. He went ahead and stopped to take a breather, looking over the distance he had traveled so far, seeing the town off in the horizon as he had come a long way so far. Once he caught his breath he started up the hilltop once more, the gravel road turned to dirt as he got closer to the top. He stopped and listened as his ears perked up as the courser started to hear odd sounds coming from over the hilltop. It felt like the whole area was resounded with the clatter of armor, screams of Coursers, and shouts in human language. He thought it strange as the voices sounded familiar to him as it was language that he had heard and used many times when he was in the other world that he was in so he started to head up to the top with a pep in his step. Kai finally made it to the top and his eyes widened in surprise. The yellow flowers that grow alongside the pumpkins on the Harvester’s Soul Vines tend to grow in strange patterns. On a ledge, you get a bird’s eye view of one such patch. Thousands of flowers bloom in squares, like soldiers in opposing battalions. Uneven scars of emptiness mar the field. At first he wasn’t sure still where the sounds were coming from, but as the moon rose from behind the hilltop it revealed what was actually going on below. Thousands of coursers and humans were locked into a battle that each side didn’t want to lose. “How am I supposed to bring all these souls to the afterlife?” Kai asked his companion, his googly eyes shaking all around and up and down as he couldn’t respond with a direct answer to the question because he didn’t have a mouth. Kai figured he better first find someone that looked important to see what was going on, or why they were fighting in the first place so he started back down the otherside of the hilltop eventually reaching the bottom and he could see a courser and human in the back that seemed like they knew what they were doing, so he made his way over to them to see what was going on. “Um what is the situation and why are we fighting?” The spirit looked dumbfounded that a horse was speaking human language, but he went ahead and responded to the question. “This is the battle of life and death against the enemy! We have pushed them back this far and now we are going to finish it! They have taken our land from us and we are going to take it back!” With that the human and coarser road off into battle and there was massive fighting going on everywhere. The golden courser wasn't sure on what he needed to do still, so he went ahead and snuck his way to the otherside of the battle field and went to the most important person that he could find. “Hey, why are y'all fighting?” again with the same surprised expression on its face the spirit answered. “They are trying to steal our land that we had for generations! We must hold them back!” With that once again, the leader of the side rushed into battle and left Kai wondering what to do, as it seemed no one was right or wrong in this situation. Maybe if he could find something that proved to them who actually owned the land, then he could stop this fighting between the two groups. First he wanted to run through the battlefield to see if there was anything there that he could find, but he knew this was going to be a risky move but went ahead and did it anyway. The golden courser charged into the middle and weapons were clashing all around him, arrows flying and almost hitting him as he dodged and weaved everything that was thrown at him. He ran to the other side and hid behind a tree, but all that effort was in vain. Off in the distance however he seemed to see an entrance that looked to lead underground, another dungeon entrance perhaps ? He figured there was nothing to lose, so he went ahead and traversed into its depths to see what he could find. As he traversed into the cavern, he used his light spell to be able to see, with the familiar golden glow. It did appear that it seemed to be leading into the overgrown caverns as there started to be shrubbery and grass and vines everywhere threatening to block the paths that he was taking. Eventually kai came to what appeared to be a large room that had one giant door at the end of it with writing that seemed to be in an unknown language, but he had the power to read all languages so it wasn’t an issue for him. As he brought his light closer he could see that it read. Match the three pictures with the claw and the way will open. What could the claw even be?” he wondered, then he saw a small cave entrance leading off into another path, so he decided to see if anything in there could help him with his puzzle that he has. He made his way through it and eventually came to a room that appeared to be full of spider webs. There were a ton of small spiders around but nothing but the size of a pee. However when he made his way to the center, a huge creature started coming down from the center of the room, which appeared to have eight legs, and a ton of eyes on its face. A giant spider had come and it didn’t look friendly at all. Then off in the distance in one of the spiders webs he could hear a voice. “Oh thank goodness, someone has come to save me! Please get me out of this and I can give you what you need for the door!” kai nodded in agreement and started to face off with the giant spider as he pulled out his weapon and started to block all the strikes that the spider was doing with its legs. It had then jumped up onto the wall to try and get some distance from kai, but he was ready with his golden blast, as he summoned his four giant golden crystals and fired them at the huge spider. One of them managed to hit, but the others slammed against the wall where the spider once was. It started screeching loudly as it echoed through the cavern and it started running quicker as it was angry and in pain. The spider tried to jump in and get close for another bite attack to poison him, but with his reaction time he was able to get off a fiery blast that hit the spider point blank range doing massive damage. The spider was on its last legs, as it had half of its body burnt to a crisp, then Kai went ahead and summoned more of his golden blasts and the crystals met their mark and skewered  the spider, ending it. Once the battle was over, he went over to the voice that was calling out to him and let him free. “I am the only one that is going to get the treasure that lies behind that door!” The creature that was stuck appeared to be a bandit that didn’t want to share the loot, so it had started attacking kai.  Kai shook his head as didn’t he just watch him take out that giant spider? What was he going to do to him? At that moment, Kai pulled out his weapon right near the bandits body and sliced it quickly through the air as he thought he was unarmed. It scored a direct hit and ended him quickly as well. He rummaged through his body, and found a huge golden claw that appeared to have pictures on the back of it. Hoping that it would tie into the door he took it with him and went back to the door and saw three circles on it with symbols that could be rotated. He matched the door symbols in the order with what was on the claw, than the whole room started to shake and the door slowly opened to reveal a pedestal that had an ancient letter that was on it. Kai went over and read over it real quick, and it seemed to be exactly what he was looking for. He snatched it up quickly and took off down the corridor that he had come through and eventually made it back outside to the moonlight as the battle was still waging around him. He went up to a big rock that overlooked the battlefield and then he used a spell that let him sound like a dragon and he made a huge roar coming from right behind him to get all the combatants attention. “Stop fighting and bring your leaders to me, I have the answer to this whole battle that everyone is looking for!” Kai held up the parchment for all to see, and both sides stopped fighting long enough for their leaders to come forth and read the document. As they read it, it appeared that they were all fighting for no reason as everyone was supposed to be sharing the land in harmony. As everyone figured this out they all started to glow and rise up into the sky and eventually all the spirits disappeared, going to the afterlife. Kai had finally finished his monumental task and started to head back to where he came from. He made his way down the hilltop, then eventually made his way through the open plains. This time as he made his way through, he didn’t see any spirits as they seemed to be all gone at the moment. Once he made it back to town he traversed the brick roads and he was still alone as all the other coursers were still hiding in fear from the harvester, even though he was the one that was helping the lost souls in the first place. He eventually made his way to the entrance of the dungeon where the harvester was wasting to hear the good news that Kai would bring. The golden courser went ahead and explained to him all that had happened and that he was indeed able to save all the souls and the harvester was pleased with his efforts. As the sun started to rise, the town and dungeon was basked in the orange and gold light, then the harvester disappeared as the moon left for another day. The courser was pleased with his work and made his way to the tavern that he was staying in and greeted the waitress as she was getting ready for the morning rush. Kai made his way up the stairs and then fell right into his bed for a good rest.
