[DD1] {Losgrin} Bone Chilling
- You come upon a chamber with a crack in its ceiling. A mossy pedestal is illuminated by moonlight, a gorgeous chest resting on it for the taking. However, surrounding the pedestal is a gruesome sight: piles of bleached Courser bones. Do you heed the warning or attempt to take the treasure?
Losgrin had spent a few days on the surface, giving himself a short break from toiling for riches and secrets within the depths of the Dungeon. He allowed himself some time to visit his favorite places on the surface, even taking a trip to the water and immersing himself beneath it's grasp. He felt much better after washing the Dungeon dust from his body and basking in the sun to dry. Though he'd enjoyed a few days of rest and recuperation, he was itching to get back to the Dungeon.
At dusk, Losgrin slid his makeshift pack over his head and set his path towards the mouth of the Dungeon. It looked a little less intimidating each time he visited. Perhaps Losgrin was finding his confidence and just didn't realize it. Heaving out a sigh, "Not too deep today Lossy", he stated in a hushed tone. Losgrin passed through the entrance, and opted to explore a path nearest to the surface. He hadn't been down it before, and was incredibly intrigued to see what those caverns had in store for him.
He ventured under many rubbled archways and openings. Seeing spiders, plants, and stones around every turn. He even caught sight of a few creatures hiding in the shadows. Losgrin badly wished to approach them, but still maintained a reserved composure. He wasn't knowledgeable about the creatures lurking below and didn't wish to piss off the wrong one. He kept his distance, but stopped and watched as they proceeded to bounce around the mosses and plants, interacting with eachother in a playful nature.
Losgrin wasn't sure how long he had spend observing the life within the Dungeon before a small sliver of light caught his eye. Eyeing the sliver of light, he recalled something mother used to tell him, "Lossy, that curiosity of yours will wind up getting you in trouble one day. I hope your wits are just as strong". He thought of his dam, how rigid and uncaring she seemed most of the time. Shaking the thoughts, curiosity got the better of him,
Losgrin advanced towards the source of the sliver. He took slow, careful steps, just the faint clip-clop of his hooves as the landed on the ground. He peeked one eye around the corner and saw the light shining slightly brighter. Breathing a deep sigh, he slowly advanced until he came to a chamber that was heavily illuminated. Losgrin looked above his head to see the ceiling had a large crack, allowing for moonlight to shine through. Following the beam, Losgrin wondered how what it was resting on didn't catch his eye first. Atop a moss covered pedestal sat perhaps one of the most beautiful things he'd ever laid his eyes on. It was a gorgeous chest, sitting, unbothered, waiting for someone to claim it.
Losgrin took a couple of steps further, until he heard the clatter and felt something strange underneath him. He looked down and was horrified at the sight. Courser bones lay scattered around the pedestal. Piles of them, riddled with dust and decay. Losgrin had to look away. He closed his eyes to escape the sight and took a couple of deep breaths. He opened them again, eyes drawing immediately to the glimmer of the chest. "Decisions Lossy. What should we do?", he asked himself in a whisper. "Perhaps we could try. Maybe all those that have come before to claim it triggered any traps that lie in wait. Certainly there can't be anymore", he answered himself.
Stepping as best as he could over the piles of Courser bones that littered the ground, Losgrin would attempt it. He looked around the chamber, searching for any indication of a trap. He saw nothing. Los proceeded forward, inching closer and closer to the chest. Just as he was about to reach for it, the ground began to quake. The sound was deafening, as the clattering of the Courser bones rattling together combined with the groaning of the earth. With eyes wide, Losgrin turned and ran as hard as he could from the chamber, hoping he was fast enough it wouldn't claim his life as well.
Losgrin ran as hard and fast as he could towards the Dungeon's exit. Upon reaching his destination, Losgrin cantered from the exit, and picked up his pace, moving as quickly as he could back to his home. Once in his resting place, Losgrin closed his eyes, wondering how he would ever get rest. As all he could see were the littered Courser bones and the sound of them clattering as he almost became amongst them.
