[DD1] Whispering Woes

Walls barely visible in the dark, Shadow squinted to see with the little light that shone through. An eerie feeling traveled down his back at being down here by himself; it felt like eyes were watching his every step. The air was musty so that didn’t help and he could’ve sworn that he could hear others whispering in the dark. There was no way that anyone else was down here with him, was there? He would’ve heard them following him down in the first place if they had, so where in the hell was this whispering coming from?

His ears pinned back at the sound of water dripping behind him and he spun around to see a stalactite hanging low to the ground. Why was he so jumpy anyway? He wasn’t going to let the whispering around him make him hightail it out of there. He was strong dammit, and he knew it.

At least that’s what he told himself until something whispered right in his ear and he reared, nearly hitting his head on another stalactite. His ear nicked one though and he landed back down on the ground with a thud and a puff of air.

Shadow shook his head and dropped it as he walked around the staggering towers of calcium carbonate, not wanting to hurt himself while he was here. Though it had happened right into his ear, he still denied the idea that there were things here whispering. It was just the wind, there was nothing else to it.

Little did he know that eyes were peering at him from the darkness, and they were following his every move.
