sing for them!
Terrence trotted alongside the brightly colored Courser. Terrence looked at him warily while he looked straight ahead, blissfully unaware of his guide trying to get a read on him. Terrence straightened his posture, looking forward. A confident grin formed on his face.
“So, Brightnova–”
“Supernova Brightshine,” The weld Courser corrected with a smile.”
Terrence paused, then opened his mouth to speak–
“But friends like you can call me Nova!” Supernova added on, tilting his head towards his guide.
The smoky black Courser gave a brisk nod, Alright… he cleared his throat.
“So, what brings you dungeon diving? To the second level no less,” Terrence began with a suave smile,”I don’t mean any offense… but you don’t look the adventuring type.”
“Well, it’s because I’m not!” Nova admitted with a giggle, Terrence raised a brow at that statement. He hadn’t even tried to defend himself.
“Truthfully, I’m here cause soooo~ many of my fans have such fun stories of their explorations down here.” Fans? “I wouldn’t mind having a bit of adventure for myself, you know? Not to mention, I’d just love to share my talent with the folks who may not come up top all that often!” Talent?
Terrence’s smile faltered somewhat, perplexed by what Nova was insinuating. Was he some sort of… star? But before he could dwell on it long, Nova spoke up.
“Well! that’s a lot about me, what about–”
The two Coursers came to a sudden stop as an eerie wind brushed over them, the forms of three, ghastly humanoid figures appearing in front of them. One had long hair and ears which remained distinct against their ghostly form. Another was quite bulky for a spirit with prominent tusks. And the last was a shorter… more squished humanoid, with–what only Terrence could assume–horns protruding from its head.
Their ghostly figures flickered against the red and orange lights of the lava surrounding them, they stared at them expectantly. Did they want to communicate?
Nova’s eyes widened, a sparkle in his eyes. He glanced towards Terrence,”Ah! My calling!” Nova said with a wide smile, turning back forward to approach the three forests, his hooves clopping against the rare metal of the floor.
Terrence watched with slight shock as Nova opened his mouth and began to sing!
"The human ghosts you encounter while serving the Harvester bear a sigil you may recognize: a pentacle with two Coursers’ heads laid over it, each appearing to bite the other in the neck. This same sigil marks much of the human armor found in the Moor of Sleep. Others, however – especially humanoids of other species – bear different sigils on their banners and armor. You may meet an orc bearing a fabulously-tusked boar, a dwarf bearing a maned goat, or an elf bearing a thin hind. Who are these restless spirits? How do you interact with them?"
"Every Courser hears the call of the dungeon in their lifetime. Most answer. Some don’t. What is it you seek here beneath the surface: Treasure? Adventure? Or something harder to define?"
