[DD3] Blood in the Moor
Unlike the levels above it, the floor of the Moor is spongy and wet. Your hooves sink down into it as you step – and come away red. How strange. What do you suppose is causing this pigment in some areas? It can’t possibly be blood… Right?
"This isn't blood?" Skullcrusher's deep and hollow voice echoed on the moors where he stood, inspecting the suspicious red liquid that dripped from and stained his hooves. The more that time passed, the further the Courser's feet were submerged into the spongy ground.
"As far as one is aware, no, it is not." Logue spat blankly, watching his puzzled Courser companion inspect his blood red hooves. Clearly becoming impatient with Skullcrusher's confusion, Logue paced further away from him. "Well, what awaits?"
Skullcrusher appeared to be deep in concentrated thought. Perhaps remembering a time from long ago, a time that made him furrow his brows and squint his piercing blue eyes to watch the liquid glint in the dim light of the moor. His breath grew thin, muscles tensing, the whites of his eyes beginning to match a similar hue to the liquid that intermittently dripped below into the soggy ground.
"What happened, Logue? How does one abandon a companion such as you?" Logue had seemed to zone out himself, pacing to and fro a short distance from Skullcrusher, who had now snapped back to the reality of the two Coursers stranded in the midst of the open moor overcome by their thoughts.
This was going to be a long day.
