[DD3] The Sound of Music [DD] #9 | Raigon
Once again, the seal bay found himself traveling even deeper below the surface, farther than he had ever gone before as the rolling, green, grassy expanse of the moor stretched out before him, coaxing him further with its endless, hidden trinkets that were simply waiting to be found. Chocolate hues eagerly, almost hungrily, scanned the open wilderness for anything of note before a shout rang out from behind him. “Hey! Look, I think there’s some ruins up this way!” Raigon’s head whipped right around to see the large form of another courser who the voice belonged to Logue; a relatively reliable adventurer who had joined him for the time being. He was a rather tall young male who had dark brindle striping along his tan coat, having enough pep in his step to keep up with the overeager seal bay who never ceased to seize an opportunity. “Let’s go check it out!” Raigon grinned at him, quickly breaking into a quick trot to see what the pair could discover. Hooves trampled over course grass, leaving crumpled patches in their wake as they rushed ahead to see what lay in the remnants that were left behind as their pets tried to keep up as best they could. When the two had gotten close enough, nothing seemed to be of much interest which deflated the young seal bay for a moment. A lot of it seemed to be old, tattered cloth with some old debris - perhaps the remains of a shelter. He couldn’t know for sure, but there was something he kept glancing at, something that his eyes seemed to return to over and over.
Up ahead, perhaps a horse-length away, was something strange protruding from earth that certainly didn’t belong there. It didn’t glisten or shine, but the strange frame seemed to dictate it had some sort of function. He and Anwar were the first to approach it, the little wisp happily shedding some light upon it as Raigon came closer to inspect it. Nothing about the structure seemed familiar, but his ears seemed to perk when a voice piped up. “Well, now, that’s interesting!” Logue hummed as he stepped right up, giving the thing a quick sniff before turning to his companion who seemed rather perplexed. “Interesting?” Raigon echoed,“ That thing looks worthless.”
“Oh contraire, my friend! This right here is something rather special,” The male explained, moving his attention to the old, torn fabric nearby. “I believe this is something I’m quite familiar with. You see, this design here is hollow, and it looks like, if my inference is correct, this… fur? Whatever it is - it covers it, and if you were to hit it, it would make a sound!” The seal bay looked rather unconvinced, staring at him blankly before he blinked. “That’s a big stretch there, buddy.” Logan laughed a little in response. “No,no, I’m telling you, it’s true! We had things like this in my village. They made sounds; it’s something we like to call music.” Raigon tilted his head to the side a little after his companion spoke, his reasoning becoming much more sound as he continued on before he glanced back down at the worn, ancient remains of what once was. “Music, huh… ? Neat.”
"You come across the frame and torn skin of a drum lying on the moor. Have you heard music before? Do you like it? And who would play music in a place like this?"
