[DD3] [DD3] The View (Bojack)

"The view here is amazing." Fetch's voice cut through Bojack's thoughts as he finally caught up to the experienced and rather odd individual he was tasked with aiding today. It would be his last act of community service, but it had become no easier. The sprawling, peircing tower was dilapidated and full of debris that they had been tasked with trying to clean and extract anything that might be of historical significance.

"A bit morbid, don't you think?" Bojack replied hesitantly, a frown evidant on his face as he trotted to the edge, overlooking the wreckage that spread out before them. The scars of something ancient and abysmall marred the land like a gaping wound that time still had not healed. Something about it all spoke to him, called to him in a way that made him nervous. He didn't quite understand Fetch's reverence or intrigue in it all, to him it was as alarming a sight as it was desolate. "What even happened here?"

Fetch smiled, eyes creasing at the edges when they did so. "What indeed!!" She whispered in reply, ever cryptic.

Bojack rolled his eyes, her response unhelpful as always thus far. He wasn't sure what he'd expected to fall from her lips, but he had hoped it would explain something about the destruction to these remote lands. 'But it's the way it is, you know? Everything must come to an end, the drip finally stops.' The words haunted him like a vice, a shadow over his being. Just as clear as the war-torn lands were so clearly decimated, he too looked affected by it's presence.

He'd step back from the edge, the stonework underhoof worn and dilapidated. He caught sight of a broken plaque, discarded near the center spire and threshhold they had come up from. Bojack approached the ancient thing, eyes flicking over the two halves that were split cleanly in two. An old scrawl was etched upon its rusted metalic surface. It was barely legible to him, and he could only make out a few words, but it made him wonder.

...for all our hubris...of the spire...In memory of the sovereign...amen.

"Is this important?" Bojack asked out loud, advverting his eyes away from the tricky thing and facing Fetch. The courser perked up and trotted over, intrigued. Upon her closer inspection, she seemed more elated. "Well done, Bojack, yes! This is an important piece of history!"

Prompt: You come across a partially-collapsed tower, perilous but possible to climb. After spirals and spirals of half-eaten stone steps, you make it to the roof. Over the top of the parapet, the entire battlefield is visible, and the wreckage is more vast than you had ever imagined. You cannot see a patch untouched. How do you feel when confronted with the true scope of the destruction?
