[MEDIUM] Foggy Vines~
Zindan made his way to the dungeon entrance. His ears pinned back as he noticed that he could see three figures already standing by the way in. He mumbled an apology as he came to a stop, wrapping his tail around his hind legs. He could feel eyes on him, making him retreat more into himself.
"Zindan!" A cheery voice came, causing the pale Courser to look up. A beaming smile came from the one leading the troupe of adventurers into the dungeon.
"You're late," a gruff voice chided, coming from the grey stud next to the chestnut mare. He pinned his ears again, but before he looked away, he saw the chestnut mare snap at the stud.
"Splat, I am the one who invited Zindan along with us today," she scolded. Zindan looked up at her and glanced at the grey. He almost wanted to scoff at the ridiculous cape he was wearing and how ornate the armor he wore was. Compared to Cupcake's armor and gear, he looked like a newbie to the dungeon. In contrast, Cupcake had light armor, mostly focused on her legs and face, with a pack on her back with a basket for her goose, The General, who was happily napping. The scabbard on her side was ornate and decorated, butt in the way he'd expect a Royal Guard's scarab to be. The last of their party, Izira if he recalled correctly, did not look prepared at all. She had some leather leg braces on, and a large, mostly empty pack. For himself, he had his usual leg guard and chest plate on, along with his chanfron to hide the majority of his facial scarring. The chanfron also boasted a decent horn, subtle engravings graced the entire length. He also had a small pack strapped to either flank, one carrying water, and the other food and some basic first aid supplies.
"Everyone is here, Ms. Cupcake, can we proceed?" Izria asked, impatience lining her voice. Zindan couldn't remember the reason the other three were venturing into the dungeon, he had his mission. Despite the issues he had with his memory, the image of the one he was after floated easily to the front of his mind.
Cupcake took a deep breath in, and let it out slowly, fixing the three with a stern gaze.
"You'll follow MY lead," she emphasized. "Anyone who chooses not ta, can stay here. I'd rather go into the dungeons with less of ya, than someone who will disobey me orders."
The three followed after Cupcake in silence, outside of their hoof falls and the soft coos of General, now that he'd woken up. Zindan had his head on a swivel, trying to see if anything would get him closer to the current target of the guild.
So far, the group had been traveling at a decent pace, but he noticed the moment that Cupcake began to slow.
"Keep yer eyes up," she warned, looking around them. Zindan finally noticed how much fog surrounded them, putting him on edge. Izria and Splat didn't seem to be picking up on the same unsettling things that were setting Cupcake on edge but headed her warning. Izria, in her curiosity, approached the walls of moss, noticing vines and glowing foliage around them.
"I didn't realize the dungeons could be so pretty," she commented, looking at Cupcake. At her words, the foliage on the walls snapped to life, wrapping around the white-patterned mare. Izria let out a yelp. Cupcake was quick to act, the quickness of her motions sending The General careening out of his basket with a squawk. Izria scrambled, the pressure of the vines releasing only a moment after Cupcake moved, sword in her jaws and standing over now sliced vines.
"MOVE!" She yelled around her sword, taking the lead at a gallop to try and get out of the trap the dungeon had set for them. The other three took off after her, not wasting another moment trying to dodge them. Zindan looked back as they ran, his tail lashing in displeasure.
After they'd made it a distance away from the fog, Cupcake slowed their pace. Splat practically collapsed onto the floor, panting hard.
"Told ya not ta wear da cape," Cupcake chided, checking up on the three. Izria seemed shell-shocked, from what Zindan could tell, but he also knew he didn't know the mare all that well.
"You good, Zin?" Cupcake asked him. He gave a nod to her, trying to catch his breath from the sheer speed they'd gone down the halls. He sat on the stony floor, and pulled the flask of water he had packed for himself, watching as the other did similar things as they caught their breath and prepared to face more of whatever the dungeon decided to throw at them.
"You enter a foggy room filled with a canopy of hanging vines that seem to sway gently, even without a breeze. The air is thick and sweet, but something is off; you spot a faint glow deep within the foliage. As you reach for it, the vines snap to life, writhing and attempting to ensnare you."
