[DD3] Strohmeier - DD #7-4

Strohmeier looked back at the field and more spirits seemed to have appeared and wandered around. Perhaps they came and went in waves, what an awful fate.

One ghastly courser seemed to wander closer and closer to the tower where they were just at, Strohmeier couldn't let go of it with his icy gaze. Out of nowhere, a humanoid shape appeared to be straddling the courser, how curious.

“So it really is true then. That we were once ridden by those two legged things, humans?” Strohmeier asked as he kept an eye on the spectral pair.

“It was indeed the case, you seem rather interested in the history of this land. Have you been studying it a lot?” Crispin replied as he, too, kept an eye on the field with more and more ghosts gathering around. “They usually become more active around this time of day.”

Strohmeier nodded, he figured that was the case, but so far they seemed harmless and peaceful.

“I haven't studied all that much yet, in all honesty. But some details have stuck with me more so than others. I do like to learn as much as I can of things that could prove beneficial.” the dark courser then answered regarding Crispin’s question.

“That is a very useful mindset. Be sure to keep that up.” Crispin said encouragingly, and Strohmeier nodded.

“Do you think they would become hostile if we were to approach them?”

Crispin didn't answer at first, he just looked out over the wake graveyard, which prompted Strohmeier to do the same.

“When there are this many spectrals I would not risk it. I have had both neutral as well as hostile encounters before, so I would generally advise against any contact.” he responded after a little while. Strohmeier understood, he was sure that they suffered enough as it was without anyone alive disturbing them to remind them of their demise.

“It would most likely be best if we make our departure before we are noticed by them. We need to find someplace safe to rest for the night, I do not advise ever traveling through the moor during night unless you are very experienced with the area.” Crispin explained as he started to move away from the ghastly field. Strohmeier nodded, but just as he was about to follow Crispin, the closest spirit seemed to have spotted them.

The spectral steed looked at them and let out a neigh so filled with sadness and despair that it made Strohmeier feel heavy and burdened by sorrow and guilt. With his eyes tearing up, he looked away and followed Crispin. The courser spirit let out another loud neigh, as if calling for help, but they couldn't understand what it was trying to say.

“I feel so horrible for leaving it behind..” Strohmeier said, his voice full of guilt. His chest once again felt tight. He hated this feeling.

“There is nothing we can do for them.” Crispin assured Strohmeier in an attempt to make him feel less guilty about leaving.
