[DD2] Röl #4 - Lines on walls

He felt down and he knew exactly why he felt it. He couldn’t let Azmar out of his mind. When he closed his eyes he saw her face. They had known each other a short amount of time and yet it felt as if they knew each other deeply. Röl had to keep going. He was back to where he met her. There had to be a clue somewhere. About where she came from, what happened to her and why she disappeared so suddenly.

He looked around the area but found nothing. He was about to give up but as he sighed he saw the small crack in one of the shadows. It just glimmered enough so that his attention was caught by it. He moved slowly up to the crack. It was big enough for a Courser to fit through, and something was telling him that he should walk through it. He looked behind himself. There was nothing there. He took a couple of steps towards the crack. It didn’t look  dangerous but it wasn’t on his map. He had to rely on himself if he wanted to find his way out of it.
Röl took a deep breath before moving forward. He just hoped this was the way to figure out what had happened. As he walked through the crack he made sure to take a rock and occasionally scratch a long, horizontal line into the wall. The thin cave he was walking through didn’t have any place he could really get turned around in but he wanted to get it into his brain to mark the left side of where he walked with that long line so that if he turned he would keep doing it evenly and be able to find his way out.

He soon encountered a couple of forks in the cave. He had the feeling that he should keep going left so he did. It would make it easy to follow the cave back in case he needed to. He would just need to keep right and follow the lines on the wall on his way back.
Eventually he did make it to a chamber. It was beautiful. There were mushrooms growing around the small, circular cave, and in the middle of it - resting on a stone, was the skeleton of a Courser.

He knew, despite the fact that there was nothing left to identify the skeleton with, that it was Azmar. She looked so peaceful upon the rock. As if she was just sleeping.
“I hope you find your way home.” He wondered how she got in there. There were many questions in his head but he knew that her spirit wasn’t stuck in the caves anymore. She had found her way out. He just wished they had found their way out together.
