[DD1] Dinner time

Merpus had yet again felt the need to roam around the ruins of the buried kingdom. It's not like he was searching for anything specific, it was rather some random curiosity that attracted him down there. This...And boredom.

He had completely lost the sense of time and had no idea where he was located but it didn't seem to worry him at all. That dude seemed to really lack fear or any sense of danger at all. Thankfully for him, his luck had kept him alive so far, avoiding any dangerous encounters and traps without even noticing as he was trotting around the dungeon,  whistling to himself, a small torch in the corner of his mouth.

At some point during his adventure, his perky ears heard a very familiar sound, water. He took a fast turn and sped up the trot, following the source of the noise. A narrow cave revealed itself to the stallion. The room was rather small, a large and deep body of water filling half of the room, the atmosphere was damp yet oddly peaceful. It didn't take too long for our fisher to decide it was time for a break and cast a line. The stallion sat down and stuck his torch next to him, in the dirt. He prepared hit bait and threw the hook in the water, eager to see what type of fish he'd catch.

After a while, something finally took the bait and the fight began. After quite some struggle, Merpus pulled the thing out of the water. It was a huge unknown water creature, kind of similar to a fish but everything was odd about it. Most people would have considered the critter as garbage, but to him, it was a treasure and probably a delicious one. That was decided, dinner was caught. The horse took out his cooking equipment, prepared his meal, and then cast a small fire circle to use as a heating source, the smell and sizzling sound of the meat cooking wandered out of the tiny cave.

The subtle noises and the nice smell, although discrete, caught the attention of another Courser, apparently lost in the ruins. But unlike Merpus, they weren't as chill as him about that and were clearly desperate to get some help. So they rushed toward the noise and entered the tiny secluded room. Although Merpus was turning his back to the entrance, very focused on what he was doing, the unknown Courser could see it was another one of their kind. Their enthusiasm rose.

"Oh finally! I finally bump into someone, you have no idea how long I've been trying to find an exit, I lost my group, my supplies are almost out and, damn, I want to get out of here and see the sun again. Do you have any idea where I could.."

And the horse kept reeling off his speech, but to be honest, Merpus was in his own little world and didn't fully listen to them. But he was a kind soul and wouldn't mind company and sharing a meal. So he turned his neck toward the stranger, holding the pan in his mouse to show them his 'delicious' meal. Staring deep into their soul with his crazy-looking eyes and a big eerie smile.

"Do you want to have a meal with me? And maybe rest for a bit?"

Even though his intentions were nice, the lightning of the flames from under his chin, his red and green eyes, his odd smile, and his VERY suspicious meal, all added together gave some serious chill to the stranger. They stood still with a shocked face, their eyes switching from Merpus' intense stare and the unidentified dead thing in his, and quickly decided to run away from this situation. Merpus stayed motionless as they were fleeing away, not understanding their reaction as he said to himself.

"Oh well, more for me !"
