[EASY] Is that Burger King?
In the shadows, she watches. A duo makes their way down path after path, steps confident yet she can see through their facade. They pause at forks along their way, their short debates reaching her ears as inaudible echoes before they decide on a passageway. It's clear to her that these two, this buckskin and black, are totally lost.
"I'm this close to chewing my own hooves off," Radomir grunts, stomping an aforementioned hoof for emphasis. Hidan grinds his teeth at the newest complaint among many said within the last hour of their wandering. "I don't think chewing off your hoof would be of any help right now," Hidan retorts sharply, his irritation rising, "instead maybe put that tongue wagging to better use ya?" Radomir snorts angrily at this and pauses in his trot alongside the buckskin to send an icy glare the other courser's way. "Oh? And how would that be?" The black courser snaps back daring Hidan to reply in the snarky manner he always expects from him. Hidan doesn't disappoint. "I don't know, maybe devising a plan on which direction to take? A way to back track and find this blasted cistern, maybe begin with that?" Hidan stops in his own tracks and whirls around on Radomir facing down his diving partner. Even with the pair scowling at each other, the two know they don't mean any real harm behind their sharp and harsh words. Frankly they are the only two that can work together well, and part of that is they can both put up with each other's shit. With a huff Radomir is the first to break away from the stare off, "why did we accept this blasted contract anyway? The guild could've found anyone else."
"No one else wanted to accept it," Hidan lets his muscles begin to relax with a shrug letting the argument roll off of him like water off a pebble. "Hmm, I wonder why," mutters Radomir sarcastically, the pair's brief spat fading with each echoing response. Hidan finds himself grinning at the remark before returning his attention back to their surroundings. The small wide tunnel is lined with the life of cave vegetation illuminated by the lantern they carry, the forming of flowstones and columns slick with signs of dew reflect the yellow glow prominently allowing them to see a touch better than they would in a pitch black open cave. There are only two directions from here they can go, forward and back. Originally Hidan's plan was to keep trekking forward yet the break in their pattern makes him question this decision. It could possibly be better to head back, retrace some steps. It's certain they missed something. The dew covered walls though gives him a fragment of hope however causing him to become conflicted in the matter. "Radomir what do you think about go-" wanting to confer with Radomir, Hidan turns back to his companion but finds his words lodging in his throat. Behind the unknowing black courser looms a bleached skull, its teeth and horns accented menacingly by contrasting shadows and tinged light. A spike of fear Hidan rears on his hind legs. "Shit! Radomir behind you!" he calls out, tensing his muscles to lunge forward and aid his companion, beside him the shadowy dog Wraith crouches and prepares to follow its master.
Before either could jump in to help the black courser, Radomir reacts to Hidan's startled warning instinctively kicking out hard with his rear legs and feeling contact with a solid creature. To both courser's surprise this monstrosity cries out in a very courser-like voice. "Fucking hell!" the unknown voice shouted falling back out of the light of the lantern. Hearts hammering the two coursers cautiously approach the creature when the light finally reveals what had startled them both freeze. Before them cursing under a low breath is another courser, the brindled bay wears a monster mask now half askewed on her face as she tries to remove it entirely. "Who the hell are you?" Hidan snaps loudly as the tunnel feels with the loud constant barking of a small golden dog beside the stranger. He and Radomir both take defensive stances while staring daggers down at the stranger. "I think you jackasses cracked my mask," the stranger doesn't answer the question grumbling as she finally manages to pull the mask off her face. "Us? The jackasses?" Radomir scoffs, lashing his tail in his anger. "Yes you, a jackass." The bay mocks Radomir scoffs as she straightens up, staring down the two coursers undaunted by the pairs' aggressive stances. "You're the one that snuck up behind us wearing whatever the hell that is," Hidan responds, gesturing curtly towards the mask that now lays on the ground. The small golden dog snarls and barks louder at this causing the stranger to pin her ears back in obvious annoyance. "Trinket shut it," she orders the small dog in vain as it keeps barking.
"Again, who the hell are you and what are you doing? Why sneak up on us like that you have to know that you might get attacked doing that shit." Hidan presses again with his question, this time the stranger doesn't avoid it. "Usually," she huffs indignantly, "people run away not blindly kick out and for your information the name's Moosetracks." The bay courser bends down and retrieves her mask, sliding it into a pouch on her side before returning the divers' continuous stares. "And? Your names?" Moosetracks insists impatiently, passing her glance between the pair who hesitate slightly. "Hidan," the buckskin responds first and gestures to the black. "That's Radomir." A cold glare from Radomir makes Moosetracks send one right back at him. "So you just have a hobby of trying to scare coursers?" Radomir drawls causing Moosetracks hackles to rise; she steps forward suddenly and shoves her face into Radomir's. "Talk to me like a child again and I'll show you who can kick harder." Moosetrack snarls at him matching his energy tenfold. "Hey back off," Hidan jumps in, pushing himself between the two. "Look, just answer the question. I think you owe us for coming at us like that." Moosetracks pauses and steps back at this, appraising Hidan with a calm look. "I have to eat somehow and cave mushrooms aren't the most flavorful. You surface dwellers have plenty where you come from."
"So you live down here?" Hidan perks at this, curious.
"Maybe," Moosetracks says elusively with a shrug.
"Great, good to know that useless knowledge." Radomir interrupts them. "We have places to be, Hidan? Lets just go and leave the cave rat to her own devices."
"Cave rat?" Moosetracks growls, raising her hoof to step back into Radomir's face.
"Shit Rad knocks it off," Hidan groans, putting himself further between the two and facing Moosetracks. "Listen since you live down here can you tell us where the cistern is? It's like a giant-"
"I know what a cistern is." Moosetrack interrupts her tone displaying her annoyance. The annoyance seems to fade away though as the bay takes on a smug expression raising her muzzle up and glances coldly at Radomir. "I could hear you two arguing about where it was," she begins to say as Radomir opens his mouth to interject. Moosetracks cuts him off swiftly. "Yes I do know where it is. But why should I tell you two?" This causes Hidan to pause, glancing at Radomir who scoffs obviously not wanting to entertain the cave-dweller. Hidan knows they need this information though, and if Moosetracks could guide them that would be a great help. She can obviously handle herself. "Food right? That's what you wanted? How about we'll give you some of our food or whatever it is you're looking for in exchange for your assistance?" He was right on the coin, Moosetracks ears flick up at the words and her attention focuses on Hidan. She looks thoughtful as if weighing the words and examining their current gear. "Hmm," she hums in thought. "Alright, you have a deal." Anticipation surges through Hidan at her acceptance. Finally they would get somewhere. "Then please lead the way." Hidan insists ignoring the growing distasteful look on Radomir's face. Moosetracks sends the black one final smug look before squeezing past the two coursers. "You were heading the right way, well sort of," she comments as she uncovers her hidden lantern hanging from her chest harness, letting the light spill out before them and illuminating the path ahead. "Come it's not far." The short legged golden hound bounds after it's master, sharing a momentary sniff at Wraith as it passes, tongue lolling out of its mouth. Hidan and Radomir follow in silence.
As cave growth and stone gives way to smooth cut floors and walls, archways cross over ahead as the cave tunnels turn into the tunnels of the cistern. "Finally," Hidan groans in relief. Radomir seems to share this sentiment though not vocally, letting his shoulders relax and eyes scan the new environment. "You're welcome." Moosetracks whispers to Radomir who, while only slightly, jumps at the words. The reaction gets a chuckle out of Moosetracks as she moves away from his side and towards Hidan. "Why are you looking for this place anyway?" She asks half-heartedly. Hidan examines the dark cistern before him, responding without looking towards Moosetracks. "A contract, we work for a guild." He explains to her putting away his lantern and begins to take a few cautious steps forward. The looming darkness of the cistern intimidating in its silent and still way. "Ah, interesting." Moosetracks disinterested tone betrays the sentiment of her words. "Well you probably won't listen but I would be careful in these parts." The bay follows Hidan into the shallow ends of the murky greenish water after covering her own lantern, not wanting the water to ruin it. "I haven't explored this area too much but I wouldn't put it past something to lurk in these caverns." Hidan nods at Moosetracks warnings as he continues heading deeper and deeper into the icy liquid, sending shivers up the spines of all three coursers. "We wouldn't be hired if it wasn't dangerous," retorts Radomir who presses to catch up to the pair. Moosetracks simply ignores him, pausing briefly to bend over and allow Trinket to jump into his pouch on her haunches. She catches up to the pair with a few brisk half-jumps through the water, accidentally splashing Hidan and Radomir as she reaches the pair. "We're very experienced divers, I'm sure we can handle whatever we find lurking in these chambers." Hidan responds to Moosetracks once she catches up. Moosetrack simply nods at that, not challenging his words and focusing her eyes and ears up ahead.
After a long moment of wading through the murky water Radomir finally speaks. "Do you two hear something?" He asks ears flicked forward and eyes narrowed as if to see something just out of eyesight. Hidan takes this very seriously and focuses his attention on his hearing, watching the dark distance closely. Moosetracks on the other hand, seems to care a little bit less and keeps her pace even as she keeps wading forward. As the group gets closer they all hear it- shouting. All three become very serious, and move cautiously. Radomir and Hidan sticking close together tense and ready to act in ways they had done plenty of times before together. Moosetracks on the other hand stood off on her own muscles tense to act in her own way should something appear. Yet as they get closer the shouting become increasingly more recognizable as a voice. "What in the hell-" Hidan mutters as Moosetracks begins to curse, spurred into action first she lunges off through the water jumping to get race through the waves as swiftly as possible. "What is she doing?!" Radomir snaps over the splashing. "We need to shut them up!" Moosetracks responds, hearing his remark in her frantic dash. The pair understanding quicklky they dash after the bay the trio quickly arriving upon an odd scene. A reddish colored roan buckskin stood sloshing through the high water levels her shouts reverberating off the smooth carved stone of the cistern in a deafening way. "Burger King! Burger King where are you!" she shouts continuously.
"Hey you!" Moosetracks shouts breathlessly, the water becoming more difficult to move through. "Shut up!" The new stranger turns towards the approaching trio both surprised and somewhat annoyed. "What?" She shouts back confused. Radomir groans in frustration. "Are you trying to attract all the monsters in the next half mile?" He shouts back at her, the group not quite at normal hearing distance yet. This seems to give the stranger pause, the madder buckskin looking off into the distant dark of the cistern then back to the group. "You're shouting too." She responds as the group gets closer. "To get you to stop shouting so much," Radomir responds a bit breathlessly. "Why are you shouting so much? Who's Burger King?" Hidan asks, catching his own breath now that the group is close, taking heavy steps through the deep waters. The madder buckskin looks a little more than annoyed. "They're my pet," she answers, pinning her ears back. "And I won't stop until I find them." Moosetracks snorts at that. "You can find them without trying to kill yourself," she says looking around as if to find signs of either the pet or whatever else might've been attracted by the shouting. "My name's Hidan," the brindle buckskin introduces himself, "that's Radomir and Moosetracks." Hidan gestures to the other two briefly. "Blair," the stranger introduces herself. "Nice to meet you Blair," Hidan responds in a polite manner causing Moosetracks to snort from where she stood. "You didn't say it was nice to meet me," she mutters below her breath causing Radomir to roll his eyes. Hidan ignores her. "Your pet, uh Burger King? What do they look like, what are they..." he inquires in an attempt to garner more information to search for Blair's companion. However as he talks, a deep rumbling sounds throughout the chamber. All coursers look towards their legs watching the water ripple erratically. Small waves begin to form on the surface, not strong enough to toss them quite yet but it's clear they were building up to become so. "What in the..." Radomir pushes through the increasingly strong waves to stand next to Hidan. The coursers look off towards the depths of the tunnel, the waves growing stronger and stronger from that direction until each of them see a large bulge surfacing from beneath the murky green water. They each take a step back watching the scene unfold before them. "Uh... That wouldn't happen to be Burger King right?" Moosetracks chuckles tightly, all eyes riveting to Blair who stares blankly at the large bulge before turning towards the trio.
"No." She says deadpan a spike of stress rising in the other three coursers. "Well shit," Radomir says as the large water encased mass surges towards them.
