“Thanks again for accompanying me, Crispin,” Danica said with one of her usual wide, beaming smiles aimed at the gray.

Crispin merely huffed out a bit of a laugh. “Well, you did pay me to accompany you.”

“Well yeah, but still! You could’ve refused.”

“And miss your charming attitude towards dungeon delving? Never.”

Danica tossed her head back with a bright, loud laugh. “I’m glad to hear your dry wit hasn’t changed while I was gone.”

“Of course not.” The elder courser snorted softly, bright eyes twinkling as they walked along the stony corridor. “Did you find anything interesting on your expedition?”

It was Danica’s turn for her eyes to sparkle, and her beaming smile brightened further. “You bet! Lots of really neat stuff — most of it’s gonna be much more exciting for scholars and book-types than it is for me, of course, but still.”

“Mmh, they’ll appreciate it, I’m sure.”

“Hopefully so! If not, then I’ll just keep it all for myself. Or sell it,” she added with a bright laugh. Not that she thought the scholars she knew wouldn’t want any of the scrolls or trinkets she found, of course - she knew they’d jump at the chance for them - but it was still funny to think about. “I’m glad to have found it though, I always love to find all the old, ancient things, you know?”
