Alon pushed through the brush, mapping out the caves and pathways as he traversed the Overgrown Caverns. As the ether courser pushed aside some particularly large leaves he revealed a brook. The sound of water hit his ears and he had followed it but this was unlike anything he had ever seen before.
The water held every color of the rainbow and shimmered as it flowed past through the cavern. As the light of his lantern hit the surface the colors only grew but even the water out of reach of his light appeared to glow.
Alon began to investigate the spring. Using little bottles and vials he had, he took samples. It quickly became evident that the colors were in the water itself as the water in the vials continued to shimmer with all its colors, so it was not the stone at the bottom that caused the color. Another thing he noticed was the sweet smell. It was enticing and so tempting to take a sip but that also made him wary of it. Why would the water need to be enticing? What was it trying to lure in?
After taking samples and marking this spot on the map so he would not forget, he went on his way without taking a sip. He would not dare risk it, especially with no one there to help him should it go wrong. So he planned to bring the sample back to the valley where they could test it safely for its potential uses and side effects.
