[DD1] Exit Stage Left
Logue was right, for all his whining about the furnace and wanting to go home, he had found the allure of the dungeon to be something he couldn't escape. Quite literally in some senses as he had found his satchel lightly smoking upon his return to the surface. Distressed to find that a Dragonbat was his stowaway and his books lightly charred.
In the time it had taken for his books to be rebound and set they had come to an understanding. That hadn't stopped Lantern as they were so called from setting his table on fire. The scorch marks deeply ingrained in the wood before he was able to douse it.
Now as the two wandered through the twisting maze that was Lantern flitted about his head. Perching in between his ears when he grew tired. The little bat warm to the touch like that of a heartfire rather than an inferno. Although he knew there would an inferno if he didn't manage to keep his attention. Was he a dragon bat trainer now? Was that a thing?
Not that it mattered in the moment tuckered out as they were. That was a future problem for him. His current interest lay in the room he had stepped into. Humid. What he had thought to be fog before him quickly turned out to be a sweet smelling smoke as he moved deeper in. Following the sound of dripping water.
He was not expecting the toad. Nor was he expecting the toad to ask him who he was in a booming voice that echoed out about him. Smoke gentle curling from the edges of it's mouth. He could only stare for the span it took him to gather his whipping thoughts to form a sentence.
“Where did you find your pipe? Wait wait, what are you using to fill it? Is there some dungeon variant of a plant that I might know? It smells sweet. Oh! Oh! I am being very rude. Um! I'm Paramonos, but that's my name wouldn't say who I am. Cus ya know people can share the same name but be wildly different. I think, hmm, I am a researcher, but I'm just doing things by myself. So far.”
The words rushed and tumbling out in his excitement until he had to take in a great lung full of air. “Maybe that will change soon. Oh! Also! I hope to become an adventurer. Maybe write a book about it. Is that the part of the question you wanted to know? It is a multifaceted question. I'm not sure what you want in specifics….”
The toad answered none of his questions. Which was disappointing. He would have liked to have learned more about the flora around him. Their name would have been nice too. Instead the toad tapped out their pipe and pointed towards the door to the left of them.
“Oh! Thank you, Mr. Toad. This was super weird but I hope you have a good day, bye!”
Stage left he went.
