White eyes stared far into the distance, as his companion took off ahead. Logue had been awestruck at the sites of the room ahead, and Edrusi didn't think he realized that he had left his poor companion behind. The ether chimera had just seen the corridors of the dungeon behind him, and now all that laid ahead was a battlefield. Bones bleached blinding white, he had to squint as he looked into the horizon. A wave of heat could be seen at a distance and birds circled overhead, though he wasn’t sure what kind. They weren’t shaped like the raptors that he had seen above ground, nor did they look like vultures. How a creature like that would have gotten down here anyway was beyond his imagination. 

The ether chimera didn’t want to stay for too long, the heat of the battlefield confusing the courser. Edrusi took a few steps towards the closest skeleton he could see and he squinted his eyes against the bones. The bird that perched atop them seemed to be a crow, from what little knowledge he had of the avians. It watched him back, head bobbing from side to side as the critter studied him. The courser was still quite a distance away, Logue poking around as close as he could to the birds without catching there attention. His eyes were filled with sparkles as the nooks and crannies of the dungeon encaptured him. 

He placed careful hoofsteps in the sandy dirt as he inched his way closer. The uneasiness started to multiply and something made him feel as though a hand was going to reach out and grab him from the ground below his hooves. Edrusi stood taller against the feeling; there was no way he was going to back down from whatever was coming for him. 

As he walked he noticed that the crows were starting to change. They seemed to stretch and grow almost, long gangly limbs reaching out towards the darkened… ceiling? That would be the only word he could use to describe the questionable item above him. It wouldn’t be right to call it sky, there was no way it could be a sky this far down.

He turned his attention back down to the creature that was growing in front of him. Edrusi didn’t like the way it was starting to look and took a few steps backwards, towards the way he came. He wasn’t going to dare step another foot closer to a being that made him feel like his heart was going to burst out of his chest.

Body freezing with fear, he tried to will himself to turn away when the creature spoke to him. At least, that’s what he thought was going on. He couldn’t understand the words being said underneath the low guttural growls coming from the being. The others had started to join in now and in the undertone, a sense of growing hunger could be felt.

Not a normal hunger either, one that threatened to deny his entire existence and erase who he was along with any memories others had of him. The ether chimera closed his eyes, he wished to see no more of the being. It was starting to hurt and he could feel a headache starting to thrum behind his eyes. Pain seeped into his bones as he let out a noiseless scream of agony. There was no way this is how things were going to end for him, no way he would never be remembered again.

He opened his eyes once more, the sight of his companion welcoming as the brindle stallion was running at him as fast as he could. Edrusi felt pain ripple through every part of him now, and a deep breath could be heard next to his ear before the world faded to black.
