Sydney stopped, looking up and down at the enormous, unusually smooth rock that was inexplicably blocking the path forwards. He scowled. How the hell was he supposed to get past this thing? 

He kicked the supposed boulder with his hoof, and it made a strange noise, like it was mostly hollow on the inside. Sydney tilted his head to one side. And that was when the creature moved, poking its head out of its shell and waving its strange eyestalks at Sydney, who reared back with a startled whinny. 

After a brief moment of shock, Sydney quickly regained his wits, narrowing his eyes at the huge snail. Rather than being a complication, this turn of events actually seemed to make things easier - a snail could move on its own, however slowly, whereas a stone could not. He just needed to find a way to get the snail to move. 

He rummaged around in one of his packs for some extra food. Did snails eat plants? He was pretty sure snails ate plants. He got out a mouthful of tasty moss and placed it down a little ways in front of the snail. As he’d hoped, it began to slowly move towards it. 

In this way he lured the snail out of his way, although it was rather slow going, and he ended up using more of his rations than he would’ve liked. At least foraging was fairly easy in this level of the dungeon.
