A shared drink
Fleur had had a hard day. She was tired. She'd been down into the bottom recesses of level one in her quest to reach level two, and it had paid off - but she was tired. It was cool and dark and she'd been using her usual whiskers-shoulder trick to navigate the caverns, without her lantern. Here was probably a good place to stop for a little rest, and to decide what to do next. Her belly rumbled, she was also hungry.
She leaned against the wall, then finding a nub just the right height for a good scratch she leant harder and rubbed back and forth, easing that irritating feeling.
Lost in the bliss of a good scratch, she was suddenly brought back to reality by a floating eyeball appearing into the little bit of gloom she could see through. She didn't expect to see it, and she could tell it didn't expect to see her.
It whisked itself away very quickly, vanishing out of her awareness.
In its' place, if she strained her hearing very hard.. she heard footsteps. Very soft, very light. Who on earth was that? Also adventuring in darkness?
Fleur strained her eyes harder. A pink nose appeared into the direct area, swiftly followed by a white blaze and a very handsome dark chestnut. An unfamiliar horse, but one she would later discover is a well respected dungeoneer.
"Oh, hello." Fleur hadn't said anything to a fellow Courser for a very long time, her voice croaked a bit.
"Are you well?" Direct and to the point, this courser in her field of view was obviously a direct kinda horse. Fleur was taken aback a little, forgetting that people could care about people. They continued: "I asked, are you well? You're leaning against a wall in near complete darkness."
Fleur stopped leaning, stood strongly on her own four legs and cleared her throat. "Oh. Yes. Yes I am. Just a little tired."
"Good. Do you have a light?" They asked, further trying to figure out what this weird blue horse was doing in the darkness.
Fleur looked one way, then the next. "I uh. I don't use one sometimes. Do you have any supplies?"
Moritz flattened their ears. This horse didn't use a light? Alright, weird, but we'll take it. "I do. I can spare some bread and a little water."
They reached back to their pack, using their teeth to tear a chunk of bread from a loaf, and then trying to figure out the best way to transfer water between liquid containers. They looked at Fleur. "Would you drink directly?"
Fleur considered it. "Yes, that's very kind of you, thank you." Moritz motioned to their water pack for Fleur to take her fill, which she did with one long slurp, swallowing half and then spitting the remaining from her mouth into her own water container for later. A slightly messy occurrence, some of the liquid dribbled down the side of her container and dripped onto the floor.
"Stay safe." The chestnut horse continued on their way, only remembering when they were halfway to the surface, that they had bitten their lip in thought earlier that day and bled a little on the lip of their water bottle. That hadn't been an issue at the time...
