The silence is disconcerting. Every other chamber in the dungeon they'd come across so far had had some whisper of life, or at least magic pretending to be life, evident. They can see multiple hallways leading off this room; maybe it had once been a central hub for something?

The two strangers move forward, surprised that they move as one. They agree: there is no use staring at the room without knowing what is in this forsaken chamber, and so they begin to root through the dust-covered items left behind.

After some digging, they decide this had clearly been some sort of engineer's den- mechanical paraphernalia lies everywhere, on every surface. Gears and levers, previously hung in neat rows on hooks protruding from the wall, have been scattered by previous adventurers.

The brothers join the search. The older one, usually careful in his movements, is affected by fatigue. In his clumsiness, he knocks a statue from the workbench; nobody thinks anything of it, though the statue is certainly out of place for such an otherwise functional room. There is no other sign of luxury here.

The statue cracks as it hits the ground, and somewhere, there is a clicking of giant gears. The party braces themselves as the room rumbles and shifts suddenly. The younger of the brothers hides his head in a cabinet, unwilling to watch as the motion makes him sick.

When the room stops rotating, four new hallways are revealed. There is no obvious answer; none of the halls are lit, and all of them smell equally stale.

"We should each take one," one of the strangers says, and though she is joking, the vehement disagreeing of the rest of the party is enough to convince her not to say anything again.

They play a game- a childrens' game, intended for young Coursers to pick teams and the like in their formative years.

The left hallway is the chosen path, and they disappear down it.
