[DD1] Spark of Light

A dungeoneer was nothing without their tools.

Entering the darkness was an expected portion of the trip. Though various natural light sources existed in the caverns in magical forms, it was always a good idea to bring something along with you in order to protect you from the darkness.

Haziness was no stranger to this fact of life.

She wasn't exactly worried about the darkness too much, or about carrying multiple light sources with her. That sort of planning was for trips into deeper levels that she saw in her future. This didn't keep her from being prepared, however.

While she could adapt to the darkness just fine, she knew that she would still miss things if she left her eyes to adjust on their own. So she always brought a lantern with her, a small caged flame in the form of a candle.

She didn't even need to worry about keeping matches on her, as she could just as easily strike the stone with her hoof next to the candle, allowing the sparks that she made to light the candle.

Did it make her seem a bit ominous to others, the fact that she was an odd-looking courser carrying around an old lantern? Of course, but it was certainly better than getting lost in the dark.

As you venture into the caverns, the light from the surface grows dimmer and dimmer. Darkness will be your constant companion from here on. How do you navigate the dark? Do you adapt to it, or fight against it?
