[DD2] Morghoul meets Logue
The pathway from where he began had started to crumble and become warm. Morghoul knew in theory that the dungeon became a lava infested space in the second level, but he had never been there himself. The tunnel he had been in for the last few days finally began to open up and show red hues along the walls. Plant life began to spring up again, though it was minimal at best. He knew he would have to eat soon, his stomach and the crown both showing signs of hunger.
As he rounded the bend, he saw an encampment with what appeared to be another courser. Wary from the mushroom copy cat he had just experienced last week, he approached slowly. Watching as the brown horse rose and shook himself off, Morghoul decided they weren't a mushroom colony after all. "Hello" he started with, and accidentally startling the brindle stud.
"Oh man, I didn't hear you coming! Apologies, I'm not in the way am I?" The brindled courser flustered, turning to clear a path and make way for Morghoul.
"Actually no, you're not in the way, do you happen to have anything to eat? I am.. starved. Ah, sorry, my name's Morghoul by the way." Morghoul's mouth had begun to burn in hunger, the crown was starting to become agitated. The horse in front of him looking particularly... delightful.
"Oh sure! No problem, I made enough for a season down here. My family would be shocked otherwise, my name is Logue." The champagne courser dug into a few bags, and pulled out some thick cakes. "The family makes these for would be adventurers, including myself. What are you doing so low in the dungeon? I haven't seen you down here before." Logue inquired, his ears forward as he gifted the other stud an oat cake.
"Oh, I've been haunting the upper level for most of my life, but this tunnel took me deeper than I remember it being over here... you don't happen to know a way around the lava pool do you?" Morghoul's gaze turned to the vibrant pool in front of them, it's glow creating shadows that danced along the walls and ceiling. It was... closer? Than he remembered, but that was only like 30 seconds ago, it could just have its own version of a current. Logue also glanced in the direction of the lava lake, it mass dominated the scenery as it rippled past the ledges of its banks. Logue became concerned, and looked at it again. The lava had begun to overflow from its natural position and turn what was their dry bank into a lava pool.
Morghoul looked back at Logue, "We should go, that doesn't look safe!"
"Agreed! This way! It leads to the old bridge, we might make it across and the other platform is higher up." The brindled horse grabbed most of his gear minus the tent he had setup into his bags, slung them over his shoulder and rushed off, leaving Morghoul to follow along.
They made it a solid way up the path, twisting up the side of a steeper cliff, and finally it upon reaching the top it seemed like the lava flow had edged off and stopped growing. It had settled halfway up the road, a massive 30ft more than where it had been less than ten minutes ago. "Well, I can't go back that way now..." Morghoul sighed, and turned to his new temporary companion, "So, where's this bridge?" He asked, and in his peripheral vision there was movement of something blindingly white. He flicked his ears to listen and heard nothing. A shadow was following.
Prompt - The floor is lava. Quite literally. Magma has begun to pool under your hooves. How do you escape?
