[DD1] Beneath the Bough

Having narrowly escaped the tendril like vines of a monsterous pitcher plant, Cappuccino and Latte continued their journey. The Coffee Crew were determined to fulfill their quest in search of the missing courser. Yet the trail had run cold, leaving them to explore on their own in hopes of picking it back up.

Cappuccino paused noticing roots breaking through the cobbled floor of the old kingdom "Hmm, this again?" he sighed. It reminded him much of the vines and he wondered what sort of monstrosity was at the center of these. However, upon approaching the chamber he was struck with awe. Latte followed behind him and perked her ears "What is it?" he whispered noticing him pausing to look.

"Have you ever seen such a massive tree? Let alone one this far into the depths?" he asked nodding his head in the direction of the tree. Latte glanced to the direction and eyed the tree clearly impressed with how old it seemed to be. The trunk was massive and it stretched toward the ceiling of the chamber with mighty limbs holding it's leaves. Cracks along the ceiling allowed just enough light to illuminate the wonder before them.

Latte shook her head and tussled her mane with the gesture "It seems to be a very ancient tree at this size. Perhaps it is best to leave it alone and continue on?" she spoke. Cappuccino nodded in agreement but paused to nod in the direction of the tree. "Before we go, I would like to give thanks. Something tells me this is some sort of guardian and well...maybe it will watch over our travels." he replied and began trotting over the roots towards the base of the trunk.

She sighed watching him for a moment before tilting her head. A small bat hanging from her mane swung free and squirmed a little to hold on. "What do you think Bean? Think we should join him?" Latte spoke softly to her companion. Bean flapped excitedly as he was spoken to and returned with a squeak. Latte smiled at her little friend and moved to join her companion by the base of the tree.

The two courser knelt before the mighty trunk and closed eyes in mutual silence. A gentle breeze lifted through the air causing the limbs to stir softly with a creak in response to their prayers. Capppuccino lifted his head and smiled as he felt heard by this old guardian. "Let's set up camp here for the night. I feel that it's safest for us and we can get some rest." he whispered to Latte.

[In a particularly vast chamber, you come across a lone tree whose roots reach claw-like into the stone. It is the only tree you’ve ever seen in the caverns. Though you haven't felt a breeze since venturing underground, the tree’s branches sway and creak above you. You feel compelled to do something… But what?]

A very peaceful like prompt for the two :D
