It wasn’t a moment after his left hoof touched the ‘bridge’ that Terryn felt it begin rumbling beneath him. A startled whiny left the courser’s mouth as thousands of legs began to emerge from under the ‘bridge’. From beside him, his pet, Mothman, fluttered away as the horse struggled to keep his balance on the now moving ‘bridge’.

“Mothman, what is happening!?” Terryn called out in a panicked neigh. Never before had he had to struggle so hard to keep his footing, and why had this bridge grown legs?

Flying back towards Terryn, Mothman hovered in place, his dusty brown wings flapping softly. “Appears to be a millipede. A giant millipede.”

Swaying back and forth, his hooves sometimes completely lifting from the back of the millipede. “Nice…” Terryn muttered as he eyed the other side of the cavern abyss. They were nearing the edge of the other side, and if he timed it right, Terryn was certain he could make the jump. 

To his left, Mothman gasped as he released what the black tobiano was thinking, “Have you lost your mind?!”

“Not yet,” Terryn nickered as he braced himself for the leap. Timing his leap with the movement of the millipede, the black tobiano horse lept into the air, and for a moment, got to experience what Mothman must feel every day. Within seconds, however, Terryn found himself tumbling on the cavern floor and was only stopped against a mossy wall. As he lay panting, Mothman flew over in a concerned rush.

“Terryn! Are you alright?” the giant moth landed on the cavern floor beside his owner and began checking the stallion over with his skinny insect legs.

Carefully rolling onto his side from his back, Terryn sat up, his hind legs still resting beneath him, “It’ll bruise for sure, but I’ll live. Thank you, Mothman.”

“Anytime, boss.” Mothman moved out of the stallion’s way as he got back to his hooves so the two of them could continue their exploration of the dungeon. Hopefully the rest of the journey would be without anymore millipedes.
