Jade stood at the edge of the void with her eyes fixed upon the abyss beneath her. A few loose stones chipped beneath her hooves from the unsteady ledge as they fell into the darkness. Fear crawled along the coursers spine as she stood frozen in place. Darkness was one of her biggest fears and yet she stood face to face with it's pressense now, alone. The light of her lantern did nothing to press the darkness back with it's weak ember flickering in it's chamber.
Shaking the panic from her coat, she flicked her tail in defiance as she turned and started to move away from the deep crack. That was when she saw it, a possible way forward. Outstretched over the dark maw was a sturdy natural bridge.

Tired and exhausted from her delve this far into the dungeon, surely she couldn't turn around now. Carefully, one hoof at a time, she took a step onto the bridge. Her whole body was trembling from the fear of what lurked in the dark depths beneath her, yet she kept her eyes forward. Breathing heavily through her nose, she bit harder onto the handle of the lantern trying to keep the light guiding her.

Her ears swiveled at the echos of her hoofsteps as she proceeded onto the bridge. The sounds left her uneasy until they were interrupted by a faint chittering sound. Pausing to listen closer for the sound she noticed the ground beneath her shift subtly. To Jade's horror she saw thousands of bug like legs unfold from beneath the supposed bridge she stood upon. It was then she realized the saftey she'd found upon this bridge was in fact a massive creature.

Unable to process her thoughts about this large formation being that of a bug, she found herself desperately trying to cling to the surface. In her panic she gasped losing her grip on the lantern she'd clung so closely to as it fell into the void below. It's light shattering on a outstretched ledge as its remains descended beneath her. Now left with no choice but forward and only dimlight from the glowshrooms on the wall, she set out into a desperate run.

The chittering grew louder as the millipede began its burrowing into a passage ahead seeming only to want to shake off what irritated it's back. Jade refused to allow herself to be swallowed by the depths beneath her like the lantern, and pressed herself into an all out run. As the tail end of the creature approached the ledge leaving Jade with no other option, she lept with all her efforts. Her hooves collided with the ground sending her into a tumble onto the earthen surface. The millipede content with this passenger no longer on it's back just proceeded along the corridor looking for it's next place to nap.

Jade winced a bit in pain and panted to catch her breath gazing at the side she once stood upon.

There was no turning back now.
