[DD1] Levi Dungeon Dive - 5

Levi stood still as the ledge beneath his hooves began to shift, the earth rolling like waves underfoot. His ears perked up, and his sharp eyes narrowed as the rocky incline trembled, revealing the presence of several moss-covered golems. These ancient stone giants, dormant for who knew how long, were rousing from their slumber, their bodies creaking and groaning as they stirred. Moss and lichen had grown thick over their forms, giving them the appearance of just another part of the rugged landscape. Levi had stepped upon them unknowingly, but now they were awake, their massive, weathered faces turning to regard the Dungeon Courser with curiosity rather than malice.

He knew enough of the Dungeon's denizens to recognize that these golems meant him no harm. They were ancient creatures, bound to the earth and the ruins of the Kingdom that once was, their purpose long forgotten. Levi felt no fear, only a respectful calm as he regarded them, his mind already calculating how to proceed without further disturbing them.

With a gentle huff, Levi lowered his head in a gesture of acknowledgment. His voice, when it came, was deep and resonant, carrying the wisdom of countless journeys through the Dungeon. "Forgive me, ancient ones," he said, his tone respectful yet relaxed. "I did not intend to disturb your rest. My path leads upward, but it seems I have stepped upon your sacred ground."

The golems rumbled in response, their voices like the grinding of stones, but there was no anger in their tones. Levi could sense their age, their connection to the earth itself, and the weight of the years that had passed since they last stirred. They were as much a part of this land as the rocks and trees, guardians of a forgotten time.

Levi took a step back, his movements slow and deliberate, showing that he meant no threat. "I seek passage to the heights above," he continued, "but I will not trespass if it brings you discomfort. If you wish, I will find another way." He knew that the Dungeon was as much a living entity as it was a place, and its inhabitants were not to be taken lightly. Even the smallest show of disrespect could turn a peaceful encounter into a deadly one.

The golems exchanged slow, deliberate glances, their ancient minds processing his words. Levi waited patiently, his body language calm and unthreatening. He had learned long ago that in the Dungeon, patience and respect were often more valuable than force or speed. Finally, one of the golems, the largest among them, shifted its massive form, creating a narrow but stable path over its broad shoulders.

"You may pass," it rumbled, its voice vibrating through the stone beneath Levi's hooves. "We are the last of our kind, forgotten by time. But we remember the ways of the Kingdom. Your respect is noted, Courser. Tread lightly, and may your journey be safe."

Levi dipped his head once more in thanks, his dark mane falling forward like a curtain. "Your kindness is appreciated, noble ones. I will tread lightly, and your rest will not be disturbed again." With that, he moved forward, stepping carefully onto the path the golem had formed. His hooves made little noise against the ancient stone, and he moved with the fluid grace of a creature in perfect harmony with his surroundings.

As he ascended, the golems slowly settled back into their slumber, the moss and lichen beginning to reclaim their forms. Levi didn't look back, his mind already focused on the challenges that lay ahead, but he carried with him the quiet satisfaction of knowing that he had navigated another encounter with the Dungeon's denizens with respect and care. His path might be fraught with danger, but he knew that his attitude and actions would always guide him safely through.
