A Goblet

  • What is 'home' to you? Where do you go when the adventure is done, and who is there with you? Are you a surface-dweller, or have you adapted completely to the dungeons?

Mace pinned their ears to their head in frustration as they brought another artifact to Prex's room. There just wasn't a good spot for the goblet they had found earlier today, and they didnt want to disappoint their sovereign. They looked around the room, trying to find any sort of empty cavity to place the adorned cup, but eventually gave up and looked around the more populated area of the cave.

They watched as others congregated in the hollow, laughing and conversing with one another, striking ivory markings on their brow. It surely was something to behold. They were so proud of what Prex has accomplished in the short time that they have known him. Gatherings like this are no easy feat, but Prex was so good with others. It was fascinating how well he could just... talk with the coursers. Something Mace wasn't very gifted in, but Prex saw something in them anyway, and it really helped them find their purpose.

Mace's wisp followed closely beside them, softly illuminating the cave walls as the two walked through a small corridor. It was quite spectacular the amount of artifacts collected here. It really made everyone, including themselves, feel significant in some way.

"Well, What do you have there, Mace?"

Prex's voice cut through the air like butter, where it melted warmly when it reached Mace's ears. They could pick out that voice amongst a thousand coursers. The blue courser set it in one of his satchels before speaking, not wanting to be rude.

"A goblet, sire. I was.. trying to find a spot for it."

"How many times have I told you, friend? There's no need for formalities."

A chuckle passed through Prex's lips as he spoke, and Mace swore that seeing him smile made the room just a little brighter.

Mace bowed their head in response.

"Ah, yes. My apologies."

When Mace looked up, their eyes met and the courser was filled with... so much indescribable feeling. They knew this was where they belonged. Where they needed to be. Where they needed to serve. This was home.

"I know you'll find a perfect spot for it.~"

All Mace could do was stare at Prex until he walked away. Their heart was just racing and it filled them with incredible amounts of determination to do right by their leader. Their king.
