Rajinder should have perished in the dark. There was no doubt about that. He could not say how long he fell, nor where he landed-- how he had come to find himself wandering blind through an endless dark, across floors too soft to be built of stone and somehow, somehow uninjured. That was the oddest thing. He had simply... awoken beneath. So far as the knight remembered he never actually hit the ground. Never stood. Never tested his limbs for inevitable breaks, nor called out into the nothing to find out whether his companions had fallen away with him. Rajinder simply... was. 

He could not even call that a blessing, for there seemed to be no out to this place. Hours upon hours and he had not even encountered what might have been considered a wall. What sort of endless sea of darkness had he discovered beneath the shifting floors--?  

And then, Rajinder stood in a patch of glittering sunlight. The world brightened so suddenly it nearly knocked him to the ground, flash-blind and staggering as he struggled to make sense of the sundappled shadows, the wind in the leaves, the chorusing of birds. How? How had he come--? There could be no explaining it, and Rajinder new better than to think he would ever understand. He could only truly be grateful the dungeons had seen fit to eject him into this wild place. Entirely and utterly alone... 

In the wake of the bliss of sunlight came a creeping fear. Cyneric had not fallen... or at the least they had both been rendered deaf in the dark, as well as blind. Rajinder could only assume his wayward charge remained in the belly of the dungeons. A quick glance told him precisely what he dreaded. No entrance stood here... this glade looked as though it had never been disturbed before. So the knight's wandering began anew-- bright-lit, now, but no less lost for it.
