When The Apothecary had sent the Herbalist out into the dungeon to collect herbs, he had thought nothing of it.

It wasn't the first time that the Apothecary had asked, and it certainly wouldn't be the last. Herb was its apprentice after all and considering both their specialties, it was no small wonder that Herb hadn't been sent into the dungeon time and time again to collect as many herbs as he could get his hooves on. What had made this quest into the dungeon strange, was the Apothecary's warning. Herb couldn't quite remember it exactly, but it had been some nonsense about voices or something? At the time, they had simply thought it had something to do with the Call, or at least something similar.

But now that they were actually down here, it wasn't just the Call.

There were actual whispers swirling about his head, whooshing around him, pushing by him. And it was weird. Very weird. Herb was very used to strange things, he'd been adopted by the Apothecary and the Librarian for all’s sake, they were about as weird as anything got up on the surface. But this was odd and off-putting. Especially since he couldn't put any of the whispers together to make any sense. It always felt like the words were just out of focus or a little too far away to hear properly. 

Hm. 

Herb stood there for a long minute before deciding to just ignore it. If it were real, it was probably some fae trick. If it wasn't... well, he'd talk to the Librarian and the Apothecary about it later. They would have some insight on the matter. But he wasn't concerned. Maybe he would be if the sounds persisted when he went back up to the surface, but for now all was good. He would just ignore it and go on about his business, it wasn't worth paying attention to if it didn't want to make any sense anyways.
