Aquilo dancing contently on his dainty hooves, the metallic glittering silver shown bright and like unto the flash of a drawn blade in the lantern light; sharp, blinding, but yet gentle and beautiful. He has been enjoying the opportunity to delve, especially given that he was let out of the sight of his Sire's and Dam's regiment and Order; left alone to be like any other normal Courser with his only friend. Well, you could say he was the most excited by the fact that he was allowed to wander and explore with Peregrine, given leeway that he was always been punished for, before the present that is now.

The sounds of his hooves, not needing shoes like his companion, sound like the clattering of armor against itself. Yet, it was melodic in a sense, not as if he were bashing a rock upon a plate of metal or the fall of a blacksmith's hammer, rather it was like the fall of the waves upon the shore. A near hollow pattering followed by a rushing of his long tail whipping through the stale humid air.

After the tumble through a calm pond that the two of them made, Aquilo had braided his silver-blue locs with the intent to keep the damp strands from dragging in the dust and dirt that littered the cavern paths, the dirt only showed harsher and darker on his flesh when it did touch and land there. Peregrine on the other hand would only appear slightly lighter, his dark liver chestnut coloration suited to the wilds and clambering dirt roads of the surface.

Aquilo hums lightly, the sound harmonizing in the back of his throat to the tune of his hoofbeats, and he nudged the sturdier Courser with residual playful energy, "Peregrine, Peregrine! Flight takes the dark bird to caress the wide skies with wide feathers of red and brown. Touch he gives the gentle rolling clouds, cupping them with powerful beating wings. Dance of the Peregrine. Dark shadow roaming the rolling hills and golden grains, his beak sharp and proud. Peregrine, Peregrine! Held aloft by the winds of an Eagle, Aquilo, Aquilo!" The royal begins to sing a song, created from an unusual sense of mindlessness that was brought about by their play.

Peregrine rolls his dark eyes and chuffs lightly, the sound barely an exhale from his large barrel chest.

Song echoes in the space, an answering chitter revealing a colony of hanging bats along the ceiling of the cavern. Their eyes like starlight or the glitter of jewels from this distance, their velvety dark wings rubbing together as they swing from their perches.

"Oh! I think those are Painted Bats, look, look." Aquilo chirps, stopping his muscial number in favor of letting his mouth run.

It was a fairly rare experience for Peregrine to witness the royal Courser speaking this much or this often, but it didnt fill his heart with annoyance like some of the gnattish pests that roamed around the halls of the Dukedom. Nay, it was a joyous sight; like Aquilo was unburdened and allowed to be that which his foal heart as always been. Curious and Untethered.

"...As long as they are not of the Draculas kind." Peregrine adds, watching the Ether skip around on his slim hooves as he admires the colony from below.

"Your way forward looks clear at first glance, but a look at the cave ceiling reveals hundreds of bats inverted in slumber. They might be harmless Painted Bats, but they could also be blood-sucking Draculas. What do you do?"
