The pink courser enters the dungeon, her pink and yellow mane gently flowing with each careful step. The darker courser follows loosely behind her, his red eyes almost glowing as the light from the upper world slowly fades away. The two, known as Laramy and Terrence, are on a joint dive, Laramy being young and inexperienced, and Terrence having offered to serve as a guide/companion. Laramy's hound, Copper, dashes excitedly around; it is his first dive, and he is beyond excited to be in the dungeon. After weaving through various tunnels and corridors, and over bridges and along stone walls, the group arrives at a fork in the corridor, and stops to survey their options. The path splits down the middle, each side gently veering off to one side. The left route has a chill, stale scent to it, and a cool breeze wafting out of it. The right route has an air of danger, a sharp scent, and a wind that has a slight sizzle to it. The coursers exchange a look, and before Laramy has time to protest, Terrence has started down the corridor on the right, Laramy’s hound close at his heels. Traitor, she snorts, but begins after them.

The pair make their way down the corridor, the air getting thicker and causing their eyes to water, stung by the smoke carried on the slight breeze. The corridor narrows, and Terrence, still in the lead, tenses, the sense of danger ever stronger. Pausing, he smells the air, but then carries on, Laramy nervously sticking close to his tail. All seems calm, when suddenly, he stumbles over a loose cobblestone. Suddenly, flames are shooting from the ground, and the animals bunch together, trying to figure out where they are coming from. Terrence looks down, and notices vents in the floor, one every two or three feet. He motions to them, and Laramy nods in understanding, noticing the pattern that the flames are sprouting in. Terrence motions for the brown hound to stick close, and all three animals tense, preparing for the next break in the flames. When it comes, they burst forward, channeling all their energy into their legs, hoping and praying to make it to the end of the tunnel before flames engulf them. Laramy, in the lead, squeezes through the tight pass into the next tunnel, scooting down immediately to make room for the hound and Terrence. The dog and blue courser squeeze in, just as the tunnel they were just in is lit up with flames once again. The coursers let out a sigh of relief, while the hound sits down to tenderly lick his paws, which got mildly burned on the warm ground of the fire tunnel. Once everyone has caught their breath, Terrence lays down, and offers his back to the large dog, who clambers aboard, grateful for the ride to give his sore paws a rest. The two coursers exchange a look, and head down the new tunnel, to adventures unknown.
