Vere dared deeper, but not alone. She contracted Terrence to come with her down into the lava filled caverns. 
It went well for a while, but somewhere along the path Vere tripped. In the motion some of her belongings, among them a hearty mushroom she gathered before, dropped into the lava next to the path...
