Why was she doing this?

Francesca had to think for a moment, gathering the thoughts whirling around in her head. Eventually, she answered, albeit tentatively,

"I suppose... everything I've done in my life has been for other horses. I've never done anything big, for myself. Something that I wanted."

Images of her parents and her little siblings came to mind. So much of her childhood and life thus far had been spent trying to please them. To make sure they were happy. And she loved her family, of course, but to live for someone else was beginning to feel stifling. So when the dungeons spoke to her... she had to heed their call. It had the added bonus of getting her out from under their hoof.

She couldn't help but think, even if she wouldn't admit it, that the allure of companions was far brighter to her than that of treasure and glory. Stories had been told to her of adventuring parties, found families, and friendship found along the way. She'd seen them together on her own solitary expeditions. And it always made her feel alone. She'd never had a problem with being alone before—not until now.

Maybe that was what she was doing this for. It seemed silly to admit, even just to herself. That the treasure she was seeking in the dungeons was not gold or jewels or precious ancient artifacts, but... friends.
