Well, they had eventually found the way back into the hallway.

They'd even managed to get further into the tower than ever before.
And the along the way they'd opened many doors and found many silly little things but...

This, this outweighed all their former discoveries.

When the party of four came across the skeleton, no one had been able to speak. It was far larger than they'd ever seen before, and far weightier. And before them stood a skull. They were immediately wary of it, with its size and mass if it were to leap to life and try to bite there was no way in all the earth above or below that they could defeat it as they were. It fairly loomed over them, with eye-holes almost big enough for them to pass through, giant teeth extending away from it, devilish knives bound with rotting leather here or there and studded through with iron splinters.

"What do you think this thing looked like when it was alive?" Hawkes asked, staring up at it with wide eyes, half tempted to see if they could steal one of the huge flattened teeth. 

"It might just look like how it looks now." Solace spoke solemnly, briefly leaning xir head against one of the massive tusks, closing xir eyes as xey tried to imagine what had happened here. "I almost wonder if it is an amalgamation of some sorts, a relic of the war." Xir voice was soft and sad, like a distant rain over a lonely hill. 

Euele hummed softly to Acherna, the little drake huddling close to her neck. "It looks like it was killed by that." Her silvery gaze was fixed on what looked like a blade deeply affixed within the bony brow. 

Leiken came up and stood next to her, craning his neck to try and see what she was looking at. Much to his misfortune, as the smaller courser, he could only just see the glint of steel from where he stood. "Do you think we could get it down?" He squinted and reared up on his hind legs, surprised to see that it was fully intact. The blade even seemed hardly dulled even though it had faced such a gigantic and fearsome opponent. "The edge looks intact, imagine if we gave that thing to Hawkes!" 

Hawkes trotted over, mimicking Leiken and standing up on their hind legs to see what he was looking at. "Ooh! I would look like the coolest dungeon diver with that thing strapped to my side." They started bouncing in place, only going still when Solace swiveled to glare at them. Meekly, the spoke again. "I think we should try. We could use Solace's stick to try and poke it down!" 

Solace glare softened into a frown. "It is a poleaxe. Not a stick. And you may only use it if you are very careful with it." 

Hawkes frowned. "So I am not allowed to touch it then."

"You're not." Solace nodded, the certainty in their voice mimicking the solid nature of the very bones xey stood before. Much like the bones, xey were unshaken by Hawkes attempt at puppy dog eyes.

Heaving a sigh, Euele stepped forwards, undoing the straps that kept her staff safely at her side. "Let me try with my staff first. It is a bit shorter than Solace's poleaxe, but it may do the trick. I am a bit taller than you both." She paused, letting the staff lean against her shoulder. "But once I've tried, I'm going back to looking for a way around." Her ears twitched slightly as she stared up. "I don't want us to get so distracted by this that we forget which direction we're trying to get to."

Hawkes started bouncing again as Euele reached up with her staff and started to poke at the large weapon wedge into the skull.
