[DD1] Illiad and the Skull
A soft beam of moonlight shines through a crack in the cavern’s ceiling, illuminating a skull, adorned with gleaming gemstones. In the gap between teeth lies a metal contraption.
Iliad slowly and cautiously approaches the skull, his head bowing to his knees as to respect the life that once accompanied the skull, now mounted, almost like a trophy. It was clear whoever this Courser skull belonged to was worth something to be accompanied by such beautiful jewels, and yet, its autonomy was not its own. How can one be revered, yet shackled?
‘I hope that freedom is now yours,’ Iliad thinks to himself, a silent prayer.
He walks forward, past the skull with his head low. Before the skull leaves his view completely, he turns his head back momentarily, as if bidding goodbye. Silently watching as the light of the moon moves past, shrouding the skull in darkness once more.
