[MEDIUM] you say, "you don't know"

Exhaustion hit the team as they continued on, trying to make their way back to their camp for the evening. Between Wisp complaining about her legs aching and Derek making jabs at the other two, everyone was truly worn out and ready to rest. The beige courser and his mimic, Suzie, trundled on at the back, reserving what little energy he did have left for the last stretch of their journey. Wisp was confident that she knew where she was going, but before long they had met with an unexplored chamber up ahead. “You’re just as useless as directions as I am, Wisp. I don’t know why you bother,” he mumbled out angrily, noticing the annoyed look on Jackalope and Nemeny’s faces.

“Either way we’ll just have to go through here, it’s quicker than going back the way we came.” Wisp replied, leading the way into the new space. Everyone followed her, not getting even a metre in before being whacked with the most horrific smell. Even worse that the one previously and that one was bad. “How are you dealing with that absolutely horrid smell, Wisp??” Derek questioned, looking over at her. “I-I’m not.” She slowly choked out between gags that were erupting from the back of her throat. She was pressed up against the wall just trying to stabilize herself until she was able to continue on. Suzie waddled over and nudged herself against Wisps leg, double checking she was okay.

Jackalope had never been one to really show exhaustion. Wide awake? Bubbly. Fresh from a nap? Bubbly? Dead on her feet? Absolutely giddy. Nemeny was surprisingly similar, but rather than bubbly she attempted to appear devious. It wasn’t particularly successful, but the point was that she tried.

They had been walking for a while, trying to make their way back after failing to move the skeleton. They’d moved the sword in his chest, but. Well. That wasn’t nearly as helpful as it seemed, but it was shiny, and Nemeny absolutely deserved shiny things. And to be loved - she was sure she was meant to have a fiance somewhere who was doomed to leave her. AND a rare pet that she could take from someone else, even if it wanted to attack her. She deserved so many things.

She did, actually, currently have a pet, but he had never been someone else’s and so came to her “of his own will” and “liked her from the start”. He was a fox, and he was little, and his name was Swiper, and she wasn’t sure if he liked her. He liked to sleep on her when she wasn’t moving, but that was normal and deserved and sometimes made her entirely too hot! It wasn’t fun to be too hot.

It was worse, however, to smell gross things. It hadn’t been nice earlier, but she’s associated it with the gastric system of one of her retinue. Swiper was the first to notice - at least, the first that Nemeny noticed, but she really wasn’t paying attention to anyone else, which is why she had run into Jackalope on more than one occasion. She would have run into the others, too - possibly on purpose, to make it “fair” - but they were closer to the front and she just couldn’t reach them without showing effort they weren’t supposed to know she had. But, more importantly, it smelled, and it even looked like it smelled. “Let’s just… leave? Are you three enjoying this?”

She huffed, fully aware that she was going to have to play the hero. “Let’s go,” she snapped, ramming into Jackalope, who ran into one of the others (Nemeny hadn’t bothered to learn their names), hopefully creating a chain reaction to get them closer to the door. She could push them, push them, push them… until she couldn’t feel her face anymore. “Curse you, stench, my only nemesis!” It wasn’t, but it was a good line, and that was all that was important.

2. The moment you enter the next room, a green gas begins to seep through vents in the floor. Your snouts and lungs are choked by a foul odor unlike any your party has ever smelled before, even those who have encountered the dead. The entrance to the next chamber is near, but you’re beginning to feel faint.
