[EASY] An Encounter with the Devil

They'd done it.

Finally they had done it. They weren't sure if the skull-thing was actually dead or not, but it would not easily be escaping the deeper grave they'd managed to dig for it. They could finally reclaim their lost items and get back to camp, much to everyone's relief. It was a wonderful bonus that Solace's armor had held up and when the skull-thing had bit xem, xey hadn't been hurt in the slightest. So it was with great confidence that they approached camp, laughing and jesting between the lot of them.

They were all in great moods until Euele and Hawkes saw him. He was shoving as much of their finds out of Euele's tent and into his mimic's gaping mouth.

"Jonas?!" Euele's voice rang sharp with frustration. "What are you doing down here!?"

Jonas' head shot up, his ears perking. "Oh, Euele, how great to see your treacherous face." His brows fell low over his golden eyes, he didn't stop shoveling. "Since you decided my company was not good enough, I decided to find a party that would actually appreciate my particular suite of..." He paused to lift something shiny out of Euele's tent, admire it, then tuck it into his gilded armor. "Talents. So I found these guys." He gestured towards the other members of his party rifling through Leiken's, and Solace's tents. "This is Hound, um... I didn't actually invite her but she's a bit strange and has been following us for a while now. That there is The Apothecary." The Apothecary was the only one of the group not rustling through their items, though it was contentedly eating the strap from one of the packs that had been hung up in the camp.

Euele scowled at The Apothecary. "We've met. In fact, I work with it fairly often."

"Get out of our tents! You're stealing what we've spent so much time and effort to find!" Leiken stepped forwards, ears pinned back as he glowered at Hound as she lifted her head and bared her teeth.

Jonas' tail twitched. "Oh come now, consider it... hmmm." He paused for a long while, eyes squinting as he stared at them, contemplating his options. "Consider it compensation for Euele and Hawkes leaving me."

Euele let out a huff and stepped forwards, eyes narrowing as she leveled a scalding look his way. "You actually still owe me. So it'd be a bad idea to continue what you're doing." Acherna hissed at him, snapping her teeth at him as threateningly as the tiny drake could manage. "You still owe my family for nearly making them starve." Euele took a step forwards, her eyes filling with rage as she reached and grabbed the staff at her side. The staff that was currently crackling and snapping with magical energy, feeding off the wrath swirling around her.

Jonas' ears twitched, eyes going wide with uncertainty as he stared up at Euele as she approached. "S-so I am supposing that there won't be any attempts at diplomacy?" He glanced to his companions, looking uncertain. "We can't simply talk this out? I'm sure we could come to some sort of-"

Solace glanced between Hawkes and Euele then let out a small laugh. "I don't think so."

The Apothecary scuttled backwards, Solace followed it. The Hound lunged for Leiken. Euele went for Jonas' throat, with Hawkes at her heels.

You head back to your makeshift camp to rest after a brief but perilous exploration of a pit nearby. When you return, you find that another adventuring party has taken up residence and is rummaging through your treasure! Diplomacy is ineffective; these ruffians won't move unless you move them.

I know this doesn't exactly follow the prompt but I had to. This was the perfect time to let Euele and Hawkes kick Jonas' ass.
